Huge match in the championship. Anything bar a win for WBA would be a massiv dent in their automatic promotion chances after being spanked by the other of the trio pushing hardest for automatic promotion. Newcastle have the best Home record, WBA have the best away record in the division

Bookies fancy the home team with Newcastle At evens. WBA are 11/4

    Teams

NUFC injury free bar Barton. Lovenkrands may feature despite the loss of his father midweek

WBA without Zuiverloon, James Morrison and Abdoulaye Meite

Really big game for us tonight, biggest of our season so far. Home advantage may prove crucial for us. We have the best home form of the league, whereas WBA have the best away form so it'll be an interesting match.

Am hoping we can grind out a win but I can see WBA coming with the intention of packing the midfield and basically doing everything not to lose the game, I'm sure they'll be playing for a draw. That way, they will feel they will be still in the promotion race. Hopefully though, we can take them.

    Come on Toon!!

    Lovenkrands??

Didn't think he'd be back so soon, but fair play to him hopefully he won't be affected by his fathers passing away and continue from where he left off last Weds night.

He'll get a really huge reception when he comes on! Might spur the lad on!

Wonder what kind of a crowd we will get tonight? Could hit the 50k mark

    Haha!

Who scored for Newcastle? Good goal I take it?

    EDIT - Just seen it.

Why is Carson standing behind his wall?

Set up a wall on one side. Stand on the other. If he gets it in the other side you deserve the goal.

West Brom all over us..... they score.

We put pressure on West Brom.... we score

West Brom putting pressure on us.... only a matter of time it seems.

Our defending is all over the fcuking place. Need to sort that out.

Great free kick by Guthrie even though it was Carson's positioning which allowed it all. Take nothing away from the technique though.

Very much so. We've shown absolutely nothing. We're poor going forward and poor at the back. We're very lucky to not be 2 or 3 behind.

Don't mark Olsson at your peril.

Our midfield pass selection is horrendous! Seem to pick the player out with 3 men around them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Jonas should be booked for that, shocking

That was some control by Ameobi.

Fcuk sake lads. They're breaking on us far too easily. If I was a neutral I'd be loving this end to end stuff but FFS it's making me nervous every time West Brom break away.

I hate that about him. And I agree. Booking him would really make him cop on.

Just been watching the last 15 minutes, decent game, end to end.

I expect Newcastle to ride out the WBA pressure and go on to win the game though.

I dunno mate. We've been extremely dodgy all over the pitch. Something needs to be said at half time otherwise I can only see a West Brom goal.

Feckn quick half! Nowhere near 50k at the game 42/3 id say. Super save by harper there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

I'd like to see Carroll come on for Ameobi in the second half.

He just doesn't have that presence that Carroll has. Plus he's marking Olsson and Olsson has the height advantage and will win those balls ahead of Ameobi all day.

really puzzled by that. Taylor should be marking him at corners! Carrol cant finish like Ameobi tho! Seems to have more of a knack. Carrol gets into more positions arguably! Carrol contributes more to the team. Hes a super defender

Danny Simpson has been muck tonight so far at right back. Ryan Taylor could slot in there. As for presence up front...... There's none. Carroll needs to come on... and soon.

We're giving the ball away too cheaply. What was Enrique doing there?
