    Hello,

I'm currently looking to buy a Beneteau Antares 700 peche and can't find anything secondhand here in Ireland or the UK. Looking at spending around 30-35 K.
There are a few around the 33k - 35k mark in Northern France.

What would you offer as a starting point??

    Anyone experience of this process.

I suppose it goes without saying you'd have to travel over or could one get the boat surveyed and make a decision based on that

Between travel , surveys and transport the costs are mounting??

Are there tax issues when you get back to Ireland???

There are waggons of Merry fisher's around for sale - you might get a better deal on one of those. I would not venture into buying something like that in France to be honest. Its just the hassle involved, travel & boat delivery etc..

Not certain about the tax to be honest - I would be inclined to think that even if tax has been paid in the EU there may still be something due by our local custom guys - not sure though.

To be honest I'm looking for a pure angling boat with good range and the Antares 700p ticks all the boxes. good sharp lines too.

I've no interest in beds and tables and all the rest some of these boats are filled with. I want deck space but with a few creature comforts...ie I don't want an ex-lobster boat and go chugging along at 6 knots all day and come home with a smell of diesel off me.

I'd considered a hardy 24 short cabin originally but the stern drive/ outdrive thing puts me off. Must be inboard with shaft drive.
