    Sorry, couldn't resist.

Got a 3 portion smaller model George Foreman in tesco for 17.49 last week - will do for me.

Just checked and its back to the original price.

Don't know if Tesco have the large one but I'd definitely check their price first. I was amazed to see the small one for €17.50.

The €17.50 one was in Tesco Mahon Point n Cork about a week ago and they had about 5 on the shelf at that stage. I was surprised myself - was €35 originally and half price on the day. Does the job.

Does the entertaining one on Amazon have removable plates so they can be stuck in the dishwasher?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,082 ✭✭✭cfeeneyinterior

    Nope,
Don't think they are removable, as they say "Easy to clean: non stick finish on both grill plates" but they are very easy lean I think. Just get kitchen disposable tissue and rub them down while the plates are warm. Did that with the last one and didn't die from anything. Ordered this earlier today...... use it for rashers.... bacon butty once they are cooked.
Happy out.... gotta love a bargain

Saw the lidl one alright. Its a 2/3 portion one. The argos one is a 10 portion... One of the biggest gfg you can get! Much better value if you need the extra cooking space.

Yeah saw these in Lidl, they look good, with a silver finish, they're €20 in Lidl here. A genuine Foreman grill for €20 is a great price. Looks like it was this one, for sale in Amazon for £20: http://www.amazon.co.uk/George-Foreman-17894-Compact-Grill/dp/B002MRS1GE/ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1263904427&sr=1-25 .... although this ones supposed to be half price and looks a lot better: http://www.amazon.co.uk/George-Foreman-13621-Sloped-Design/dp/B000MXIR64/ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1263904942&sr=1-10

I've seen the large family size Foreman grills in Currys. I think they're about €99 and they're massive, like what you'd see in a professional kitchen, impressive. Great for families, way too big for anyone else......

If you making a bacon butty, just remember to put the bread/roll under the grill instead of the drip tray so you don't loose any of the precious Bacon fat.....

I meant the same size as the one on offer in tesco, if they were out of stock, second option would be to try lidl.

Arrived yesterday.... its pretty big. A little too massive! In relation to bacon butties. Fry up the bacon on the grill first for 3-5mins, Then rub down the grill plates with kitchen towel to take away the fat. two slices of untoasted bread and a little cheese and salt and the bacon in the middle, 2/3 mins and you're done. Works great as a toased sandwich maker for any kind of ingredients obviously. The 20 euro 2/3 portion grills are fine for this btw. Gonne try a nice steak tomorrow seeing as I have all this room. One thing I will say against it is that there is no auto switch-off/timer. My last one had that and was very handy.

Tme to upgrade my GF, after 8 years the teflon is flaking off, the top tip latches have snapped off, but i love it, its the most used thing in my kitchen after the kettle!

Try the bacon butty without wiping the grill plates before putting the bread on...yum!

Amazon refunded me saying it had been returned?? never even got it. Given everyones comments on size, just to give an indication, how many slices of bread would you put side by side on the cooking area? very hard to gauge size by chicken fillets!!!

Squashes them like a panni machine, and probably cheaper on the leccy bill than the main grill

Sorry to bring up and old thread (Google found it when I was searching for George Forman Entertaining grill)

Harvey norman has it for €33 It's the Big deal #10 Electrical
    http://www.harveynorman.ie/services/catalogues/big-deals-electrical/big-deal-10

Not sure what this big deal thing is about, I'll have a look tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,551 ✭✭✭SeaFields

I popped into Harvey Norman today to check out this deal and couldn't see any. All the George Foremans were at full price that I could see. Went into Argos then and alot of their George Foremans are half price. Got sorted there. :)

Thanks Seafields, Did you ask a sales assistant what the situation was? I'm going to pop int HN in Naas tomorrow morning either way.

Thanks for the Argos "heads up"

I didn't. To be honest Harvey Norman sales staff do my head in. Once you ask a question you cant get away from them. I'd a good look around and there was nothing to indicate any offer. And, as I said, all their GF grills on display were full price.

This one I got in argos was €84 down to €41. And this is relatively comparable to what I would have paid had I got it on amazon

I got one yesterday in HN Little Island. One on display but none on shelf. Had to ask as they were getting them from a back room.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,252 ✭✭✭Africa

Got one yesterday in Rathfarnham. Big thing for 33 euro!! There were a few there, but I would advise ringing before going.
