Best Restaurants for Nutritious/Healthy Food in Dublin?

    Hi all,

It's something that I'm often faced with - trying to maintain a healthy diet and lose weight whilst at the same time having to eat out with friends. We all know that the second you buy food that you don't make yourself, it can be really hard to know what exactly is in it!

So I thought it could be beneficial if people could recommend either any restaurants that they're familiar with that serve healthy food or dishes on menus in certain restaurants that are a good healthy option?

Personally, I'm following the weight watchers plan and I'd love if there were a restaurant that served food that wasn't fried in oil/butter, that was high in taste and low in calories and saturated fats! But I've yet to find my mecca, so I'm hoping people might at least be able to recommend dishes they've come accross in restaurants that are a nice tasty option!?

    Thanks!

well, if you keep your diet in check most of the time, going out and eating whatever you want in restaurants every now and again isn't going to affect you. I'm speaking from proof here.

Edit: I'm not trying to be smart, but it's really no fun going to restaurants and eating salads with the dressings on the side. If you're going out to eat on a friday night, just make sure you have a super-clean week up until then.

Oh believe me I'm not too strict on myself. Usually when I'm out for dinner I look as it as a treat and eat what I'd like. But there are times when I've no choice but to eat out more often than I'd like and if I were to look at it as a treat all the time, it'd be hard to keep things balanced.

So I'm just looking for options when it's out of convenience that I have to eat out, where might be a good choice!

Waggamama's and really any Thai restaurant and you can easily avoid deep fried food and of course coconut milk.
Italian is always good especially if they do good tomato based sauces.
Remember on weight watchers you can eat what you like just make good selections if you are trying to be careful, fish, chicken, pork, vegetarian. Just watch the portions as they are normally twice what you'd normally eat. So eat your normal amount then leave the rest.
Remember a lot of salads have far more fat in them with dressings etc. than anything else, such as a caesar salad can have 18 and a thin base vegetarian pizza 11.
Dinner out is for fun, so don't worry so much and definitely don't go on about it or comment on anyone elses meal.

Im headed to Yamamori (Japenese) on Georges Street tonight. I normally get Beek teriyaki which according to Weight Watchers is 9 points...not so bad. Also the salmon teriyaki is only 6 points as is the chicken!

They do lots of sushi and have delcious edamame beans which i reckon are all low in calories!

    You should try it :)

Yeah I love Wagamama's, it's great - I used to be a big fan of the Chicken Katsu curry but have gone for the teriyaki a few times since!

One restaurant that I love is The Farm Restaurant on Dawson street - their menu always has a nice healthy option like grilled fish. Love their hummous starter too!

Another restaurant that I find has a nice healthy option sometimes is Taste Food Company on South William St - it's on the site where I think Cafe Moka used to be. Got a lovely warm mediteranean veg salad there!

Ok it's new year and new me! Sorry for dragging up this old thread but does anyone know of any places that has calorie counts on their menus? Only places I know of are bay in clontarf and voila in baggot st. Also operation transformation seem to be mentioning a "count me in campaign" but I have yet to see evidence of this. Can anyone shed some light?!
