exempt from Irish

    Ok, I just want to make sure if this is right.

    Saoradh ar Gaeilge mé (ar scoil) - I was exempt from Irish (at school)

    Yeah, Saoradh ar Ghaeilge mé is fine. it's a bit sad though as it actually means something along the lines of I was delivered from Irish (i don't think you hate Irish that much!!). Something along the lines of Ní raibh orm Gaeilge a dhéanamh ar scoil (i didn't have to do Irish at school) would have the same meaning and be a little less dramatic!

    I would sooner say "Bhí díolúine ón gcúrsa Gaeilge agam".
