    Hi,

Last week i got an old exercise bike off a relative, currently at the moment funds are not plentiful to afford to join a gym. Changing up gears is broke on it so can only use the one speed which is not very easy put not too hard. Im just wondering if this will be much use for losing weight?

Also my main goal is losing weight for the moment. I usually try walk around when i get the chance, but the weather is not helpful at the minute. So im wondering if the bike will be good for losing weight with a controlled diet. My thighs are big enough and i am trying to get them smaller not bigger, but a friend said the bike will build muscle and make my legs bigger. So can anyone clear up this answer for me.

Along with a good diet you will loose weight using the bike, for better results add in some bodyweight exercises until you can afford equipment/gym.

Try some HIIT .... basically 5 min warm, 1 min flat out, 3 mins moderate ... repeat this for 20mins. I gaurantee this will knock the bollocks out of you and result in fat loss.
