Is it a slow thaw? If it is, that will be good for frozen pipes, me thinks!!!

    No snow here in Cavan.

We had snow on the 20th Dec, and nothing since. Been cold though, but everything is well thawed today.

Typical of ireland though, if we declare everything is ok, it goes to pot. If weather man say, "Jaysus, lads, tis going to be snowy," it'll probably rain!

Was the forecast not for heavy snow Sunday evening/night/Monday morning?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,981 ✭✭✭[-0-]

Jesus lads, we get snow for the first time in ****ing years and you lot complain about it?

If we didn't get any you'd be complaining.

Watch now, we'll have a heatwave this summer and you'll all be complaining too.

There are people sick and dying in hospitals, some of you really need a reality check or at least a good kick up the arse.

You would think in a modern, progressive Ireland, WE should be able to do something to stop this snow.

I mean, I can't even get to my yoga class.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 405 ✭✭doubleglaze

A really mild "dusting of snow" started in Galway city a few minutes ago. Some thawing had occurred prior to that.

Met E is just saying now that temperatures will be less cold in the coming days.

Didn't mean to be patronizing. I'm a very independent soul myself.

However, I have several friends and acquaintances - young - living on their own with no family in this county, undergoing some hardship due to frozen pipes or no heating. An elderly acquaintance of mine fell hard two days ago. He came close to banging his head off an outside wall. If he'd done so, he'd probably be dead by now from a combination of concussion and hypothermia.

Loads of people are stranded in their houses with little or no companionship for extended periods of time. Times like this can make for a very lonely life for some. I'm encouraging people to text/phone etc. anyone living alone frequently.

Exactly my point. Those people have a right to complain about this weather. They are in hospital! The moaners in this thread don't.

    Well that's stupid.

The snow is crap, it inconveniences everybody. why can't people give out about it?
