is it ridiculous to be thinking of heading out to the Carna Hotel this weekend given current weather/roads...just for a free night in hotel?!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,808 ✭✭✭lintdrummer

Thanks OP! Just booked a room for the night of my birthday. My first choice hotel got booked out while I was filling in my details. Still not complaining! Anyone else who wants to avail of this should get in fast...

I notice the confirmation email says:
Our cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance of arrival. Should you fail to cancel this reservation within this time, 1 nights accommodation charge will be deducted from your credit card number as a cancellation fee.

...so if you end up not going it might be wise to cancel.
    Thanks OP :)

Reservations may be cancelled or amended up to 24 hours prior to day of arrival. Where a deposit has been taken and you wish to cancel, failure to cancel your booking prior to this time will result in an automatic charge equivalent to 1 night’s accommodation being charged to your credit or charge card.

they haven't taken any deposit for the booking and the room type is free so i cant see how they could charge you

They ask me for my credit card details when trying to book...should I be suspicious? I'd imagine it's just standard procedure incase the room is trashed, etc.

ya, thats just standard so they have some sort of comeback if you don't pay for dinner/breakfast or trash the place. I checked my acc online and nothing was taken.
So unless you are a no show and haven't cancelled your booking before 24 hours of arrival, its free!

safest to cancel all the same if needs be, they are right to take some kind of safety in case you destroy the place!

Brilliant, going to try out some hotels that id normally never stay in.

Can I ask were there any more upmarket hotels in the offer? Very little choice left now; Maldron (Oranmore), Flannerys, Claregalway, Carna, Fairhill (Clonbur)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 384 ✭✭lostdesign

Was wondering that myself, anyone try?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 384 ✭✭lostdesign

I think when you went to check in again they might become suspicious but booking a second night in a different hotel would be perfectly within the terms!!

Just use your partners name though to be safe and different e-mail address!!

I'm considering a little tour of Galway.

Great find! I think the gf would be happy with me if I bring her to Galway, at least she won't be saying I never spend money on her. Absolutely perfect. Has anyone stayed in any of the hotels?

menlo park ( 4 star ) and the westwood house ( 4 star ) were available for some nights.
and i think Ardiluan was also available

    Thanks Rockwell!

Hope it's a sign of things to come. One night's free accommodation is a superb gesture. Perhaps other counties will soon follow suit.

It'll generally be included in your booking confirmation, as it changes from one hotel to another.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,209 ✭✭✭✭JohnCleary

I've a feeling that a lot of these hotels that may have been booked won't be stayed in because of the bad weather.

If anyone here booked a hotel room and isin't going, it would be nice to possibly mention it here so that another boardsie can avail of it? At the end of the day it's not costing anyone anything and it's nice to be nice!
