Singles Lifting

    Right I know a thread has been done on who is going to compete at the single lift competition in two weeks. I wanted to get a thread going on the following.

    For those of you who have said that you are going to compete:

    - How is your training going.. any issues.
    - What are your openers going to be and have you hit them already?
    - Any major concerns coming into the competition.

    I'll get the ball rolling...

    Training is going well with my squat feeling very good. This also goes for my bench which will hopefully improve from the Club Champs!

    My main concern with training is the lack of deadlifting. As I'm doing Smolov it would be insane to attempt to train this lift properly without injury IMO. However, I am going to work up to a single this Sunday.. most likely got to 90%ish and whatever number I hit it will be my opener.

    Openers
    Bench: 102.5/105
    Squat: 130/132.5
    Deadlift: In around 150.. see above:D

    Next week I will have 102.5 on the bar for benching.. which will be 10 sets of 3 so that or 105 should be my opener!!

    I have no major concerns (no jinx) as of yet.. so hopefully it stays that way.

    Who's bringing the Jaffa Cakes???:p

    Training is going perfect for me atm, never been better. Loads of PR's lately, going to cut it back for the next 2 weeks though

    Only real worry is that I was 17kgs lighter when I bought my singlet, so its a bit "snug"

    Openers are gonna be 200/105/230

    i wasnt sure about doing this but ive been thinking about it since the summer so i just said fcuk it.

    major concern is the state of my shoulder which has taken a while to heal since august.

    i wont be hitting any good numbers, but if i can get back to squatting 112 x5 the week before ill open with that.

    ill be fairly conservative with the bench so opener will be around 60. and dead around 120.

    not too pushed about the numbers tbh. first comp and and an injury mean its only for the experience for me. ill be training pretty much up to the comp and just use it as a max test. looking forward to it anyway, hopefully the weather improves though.

    Trainings pretty fantabolous for me too atm!

    ive hit all my openers and a bit more ontop of that for confidence sake.

    other than a bit of a hiccup getting the date wrong im doing well, my recovery has gotten really good and my sleeping patterns are improving which where my main concerns, eating habbits are improving as is appetite thankfully,

    im opening with
    Bench 82.5kg
    deadlift 165kg
    squat 120kg then work from there.

    Exact same as you on bench, 102.5 for 10x3 tomorrow! Probably the same squat as you, and deadlift around 160-165... Haven't squatted or deaded properly in a while cos smolov's been tiring me out on the bench, so i'm gonna try get into a bit of a groove on them starting next week.

    Are you going to pull sumo?

    I'm just going to work up to my opener with the deadlift tomorrow and also myabe next Sunday.
