I know a few boys from strabane and they were saying there is a new club up there now and they have a few big fellas up there do you anything about them cause I can't seem to find any info on any websites about them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 826 ✭✭✭Jason McCabe

Yeah Ciaran Boyle is their coach. We might be getting fighters from him.

Some of them have fights at the end of Febraury and he is letting me know then who is available.

Lisnafin MMA is their club name.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 188 ✭✭mmmm...not sure

Can't wait to see the fight card you always get some cracker fights. Good luck with the show mate

Yeah Ciaran Boyle is their coach.
Lisnafin MMA is their club name.[/QUOTE]

Ciaran is a good lad and I here his club is good as they keep the numbers limited and dont have loads off kids running about so fighters get more quality training.

And his bro won silver at the WORLD Jicuson JJ Champs at Heavyweight!!! So its a good club.

It's good to see the north west being able to put on great shows and have so many great fighters and it's good to see that even in derry strabane is still leading the way (I hear your a strabane native Jason)

    A few fights to announce.

    Pro A Lightweight
Martin Begley (Antrim MMA) versus Joseph Duffy (Falcons MMA)

Martin always brings and exciting display of strong Muay Thai and grappling and has over 20 pro fights to his credit. His opponent is origanally from Donegal and now lives in Wales. He has an extensive amateur record and is unbeaten yet at Pro.

This is a very exciting match which I look forward to watching myself

    Pro B featherweight Match

Stephen Connolly (Evolve) versus Micky Brady (Dog Pound)

Two young guys looking to make a name for themselves in the Pro ranks. Micky is a veteran of ultimate conflict and Stephen has fought at Chaos, Ultimate Conflict, UOC and Immortals FC.

This should be a fast paced battle with pride at stake.

Has owen o neil cut weight for this fight as it states on the fight ie website that is 100kg and fighting at heavyweight?

Maybe MSF could confirm this, as its the coaches themselves that ad fighter details to www.fight.ie

Don't get me wrong mate I wasn't saying you had it wrong or anything I was just wondering

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 826 ✭✭✭Jason McCabe

He fought at Light Heavy before. Maybe their site is out of date.

Another C class match confirmed is

Keith Coady (SBG) versus Jarliath McGuigan (Evolve) at 62kg Compromise

Both of these lads first fight at C class. Keith comes from John Kavanaugh's SBG club so I would expect to see strong grappling. Jarliath has had previous matches at Warrenpoint at D class and is looking forward to the step up in class.

As stated above, www.fight.ie fighter records are up dated by the coaches. If all clubs and promoters used the site fully it is set that when the promoter updates his results it then updates the fighter records and also the send all required details to sherdog and mma universe

Hey mate heard one of your lads got injured at the warrenpoint show, was it anything serious?

Dominic O Kane(Sudden Impact) versus Mark Curry (Gracie Barra) Lightweight C

Mark comes from one of the top BJJ clubs in the country and recently won gold in the NI white belt section so expect some smooth grappling. Dominic has had one outting at the EFRs semi pro show which he won. He hails from Emmet Mc Nally's club and his guys usually brings well rounded skills and good conditioning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 236 ✭✭ollieo

I'm pretty sure Mark won gold in the blue belt section of the NI BJJ Open.;)

The normal raft of last minute changes and a few TBAs but here is the card as it stands.

The headliner is worth the money alone I think. Joseph Duffy is close to breaking into the UFC and over 30 wins on his record. Probably one of the best P4P Irish. He has a very stern test though in Martin Begley who has savage muay thai and over 24 Pro fights on his record.

Both guys are considered good strikers so this could be a war

    Tickets are now on sale.

    Light A
Martin 'The Heat' Begley (Antrim MMA) vs Joseph Duffy (Falcons)

    Feather B
Micky Brady (Dog Pound) vs Stephen Connolly(Evolve)

    Light B
Connor Dylan (a.k.m.a.a mma killarney) vs Corey Hanson (Falcons)

    Welterweight B
Stephen Kingsbury(EFR) vs Gavin 'shooter' Carlin(Evolve)

    Welterweight C
Chris Meanie (Elite) vs Gareth Large(Evolve)

    Featherweight C
Eamon 'Mc Lovin' Lavery (EFR) vs Ciaran Boyle(Lisnafin)

    Straw C (Woman)
Collete(EFR) Vs Aisling "The Milf" McLaren(Evolve)

    Featherweight C
Yannick Magee (Elite) vs Micky Coyle Jnr(Strabane)

    Feather C
    TBA vs Gavin 'Hammy' Kelly(Evolve)

    Lightweight C
Mark Curry (Gracie Barra) Vs TBA

    Welterweight C
Killian Kearney(Elite) vs Gary "Cool Cat" Carlin(Evolve)

    87Kgs C
Kieran McMenamin(Donegal JJ) vs Gareth Loughran(Sudden Impact) (fight to be confirmed)

    63 kgs C
James Higgins (PCCB) vs Jarlaith 'THE WAASP" McGuigan(Evolve)

    Lightweight C
Dominic O Kane(Sudden Impact) vs Darrac 'Cement Legs' Mellon(Evolve)

    Feather C
TBA vs Ryan 'THE BULL' Schmdt (Evolve)

Definitely a great fight. Gutted now. Will be a great boost for Welsh MMA if Joe makes TUF (do we know if he has yet?) and Irish MMA (heritage). Nice matchup!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 826 ✭✭✭Jason McCabe

Joe is born and bred in Donegal (Though based in Wales now) Bit like u in reverse shane

Last I heard he has made it to the final rounds of TUF.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 227 ✭✭mmaireland.com

Realise that mate (the born and bred part) but he's been fighting out of Wales his entire career and, as far as I know, has never fought MMA in Ireland before this matchup?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 227 ✭✭mmaireland.com

Bit like u in reverse shane.

Was thinking that myself mate. Except, he's good! :D On that note; I'd never think of myself as a "Welsh Fighter". My team is here, my gym is here, my wife is here, never gotten around to bothering with the passport. I fight out of Ireland and I'm part of an Irish Team. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Not sure how Joe feels. But, I'm sure Team Falcon would like at least a little credit for Joe!!
