Complaint about Noise

Ok, got a call from the Gardai last night when I was not at home (got a shock, assuming something had happened) saying that my housemate had made a complaint about our neighbours and noise, he couldn’t get into details but just wanted some background info. It’s my 5th year living there, I never had any problems with my neighbours, in fact once, they complained to me about loud music my previous housemates were playing (to me – not the Gardai, which makes sense). I’ve been renting rooms under the rent a room scheme and never had any problems with anyone up til now. At the moment there is just this one girl there, and she’s there since June. I’ve had various problems with her and kind of hoped she would move out, but never anything major, so I wasn’t going to ask her to leave. I told the Gardai about not having any problems with neighbours and that I found her a bit odd (though couldn’t really explain at the time).
Having had the time to think it through, I’m just wondering if the Gardai will contact my neighbours. I mean, I don’t want there to be bad blood over this. Surely if there was really something to complain about she might have mentioned it to me?

Just have a chat with the neighbours and let them know that it wasnt you that called the guards, they will understand.
