what holiday would you go on

If you had a spare €5k for 2 people, what kind of holiday would you take around christmas. was thinking skiing or maybe maldives etc.

any ideas from other people about exactly where they went:cool:

With that budget you could reach almost anywhere, the weather at that time of year in some countries is probably what will limit your choice the most.

I was in Hawaii in September 2008 and stayed in the Marriott Waikoloa Beach on the Big Island. It might be a stretch on the budget and it's a long way away, but it's a lovely resort - outdoor pool and jacuzzi looking out at the sea through palm trees as the sun sets, beautiful beach just 50 metres away with huge turtles and brightly coloured fish swimming in the warm water. There's even a volcano on the other side of the island if you get bored of the luxury.

Another option would be to go somewhere cheaper where your budget would allow almost anything you might like to do. I went to Cairo before and really enjoyed it (the Marriott there is great too), but with a 5k budget you could do a Nile cruise also and I reckon that would be great.
