What is your own favorite photo that you took in 2009? It doesn't have to be technically brilliant or prize winning, just the picture that you like looking at the most. Whatever floats your own little boat!

    here is my favorite...

I'd say this one for me. It's the one I put in the Photo Yearbook and it's a place I love. It's also a time of day and time of year that I love - Duck season :)

Oh gosh cowmouse, I love that guy!

I'm kinda not sure about posting this one, but its definitely the picture I most enjoy looking at. Its a photo of my mum who passed away about 3 months after the photo was taken, so its the last one I have of her.

This is probably my favourite of the year, it's not particularly special, was just sitting in a café with my girlfriend in Paris wasting time before heading to the airport and trying to take decent pictures in between sips of coffee.

I'm most happy with the above as it wasn't planned. I met a friend for coffee and whipped the camera out for one or two shots as we talked.

This I personally really liked but others didn't appear to 'get' it. I probably have an emotional attachment to the place which greatly clouds my appreciation of it.

    19D8C028F8B64BF688A742D0FC117C6B.jpg

Anyhow, as someone didn't 'get' it, I never enlarged it to A0 to put in the frame which is still waiting on me to pick something that would look good enlarged. Ach, I'll get around to it eventually.

    Nice idea for a thread.

It was hard to chose because obviously, personal favourites tend to draw from memories, and to be honest it's been a tough year, very few times are free from some sort of worry or frustration. However, I've picked this one:

    4106689520_c537caa8b2.jpg

of two of my friends dancing along during the flash mob in Cork earlier this year. I knew they were around and got some very nice shots while looking for them. I eventually found them and while this shot isn't technically great or composed very well, its the one that I enjoy the most. I'm really glad of the flash mob as I think it is one of the few things completely unsullied by the tribulations of the rest of my life this year, despite its motivations.

My personal favourite from the year. Hard to choose when you look back over them. Each photo can have a different meaning, and I am sure if I was in a different mood today I could pick a different photo.

this image grew on me slowly, staring into the sea on a wet afternoon in Tramore - looking for inspiration and hope and answers in a very difficult year (certainly for me)

For me it'll have to be this one of the Volvo Ocean Race opening cermony in Galway. Needs to be seen in a full 1.5m wide print really... it's made up of about nine 10MP images so lots of detail there (about 90MP! :p).

I have to pick this one as it won me my first ever digital SLR (Nikon D60) with 18-55mm VR lens. Then from selling prints of it since then I've managed to pick up a few more lenses (Sigma 70-300 and Nikon 35mm f1.8) and pay off the end of my student loan before starting back in September... so happy out!! :D

oh dear ... just the one ....
Probably this one. Predictably enough it's of my son. Quite apart from that though it was my first few rolls of Ektar which I overdeveloped by accident which gave it a weird but gorgeous colour cast, and my then new Helios 44 which rapidly became my favourite portrait lens.

This one - partly because I relaly like the shot but also because of the effort involved in getting back to this place having walked around the upper lake at Glendalough (to the miners village then up and over the Spinc).

Its so lovely to see everyones favorite pictures and the little stories behind some of them :) I am familiar with the work of some of the posters here and its interesting to see their favorite pictures, compared to what would by my favorite picture of theirs. Cheers for joining in everyone- looking forward to seeing more favorite photos being posted....

The one I'm the most happy with is my entry to the 'Titles' boards challenge. Mainly because it came out exactly how I saw it in my head first. Ironically pix.ie tells me the setup shot is a 'better' picture, based on it's rating system!

Very hard to pick one to be honest.

I picked this picture for several reasons, mainly because it has a very special place in my heart. It's the first year that my girls have been able to truly appreciate a trip home to see their grandparents. I grew up just a 40 minute drive from here and despite living & making my home in Ireland, this will always be my true home.
The Lavender Plateau and it's surrounding region is one of my favorite places in the world. The smell of the Lavender fields throughout May & June is intoxicating and visually stunning at the same time.

It is soft, it has faults, but I just love the feel of it. There is also the fact that it captures the nature of Lucia so well. She is a delightful child & loves to make up games & live in the moment. That is what she is doing here with just a few dried leaves as toys.

Hard to choose as 2009 was my first year actually trying to take photos and owning a proper camera. Flicking through my catalogue was a nice reminder of the year. Wasn't as bad as I thought it was. But my first ever photowalk, and one of my first ever proper meet-ups with mainly internet peoples was the Scott Kelby photowalk in Dublin and though there's probably better pics from the day in my library, this one kind of sums up how good that day was, messing around with other photogs..

Sorry for posting this again...but this is the one that came to my mind without even looking through all my pictures. Probably because it's so different to my usual "style" where I think you always can see the accountant in me - which might be boring for some (me inclusive sometimes)

This is more artistic and something I was hoping for but didn't expect this result when I took it. Saw quite a few pictures of the show but all taken with a SLR where you can see every detail in the artist...boring;)

Only started taking photos in September not don't have many to pull from, but this is probably my favourite. It was at a Street Fighter IV tournament I travelled to Belfast for. The match in question was the most intense match of Street Fighter I've probably ever seen, such excellent play from both. When it was finally over you can see the exhaustion from both players, the winner and loser. Was glad I captured the moment (although I wish the background player was more in shot!)
