Had about 7 left in stock this afternoon. Price displayed as €59, brought it to the counter scanned in as €47.97. Beautiful remote.

Hopefully nation-wide. Might be end of line now tho, as I'm having trouble finding a decent site online that sell it, to post a comparisson price.

    Superb value!

Third-party seller on Amazon has it for £110 (sterling): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Harmony-Universal-Remote-Control/dp/B000FTRVL2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1262538863&sr=8-1

Have the Harmony One remote myself, but I recommend any of the Logitech Harmony remotes.

Anyone know if nation wide? Want to avoid the "can't turn on tv because of the 4 remotes" telephone call while I'm in the pub.

yeah it must be nationwide... picked one up myself yesterday in blanchardstown...

great piece of kit, replaced six remotes with it in about 30 minutes and its working flawlessly....

And I don't suppose would anyone know if this works on a western digital wdtv live? (left its remote in dub over xmas - doh! It focused the mind wonderfully with regards to the getting a universal remote!)

Well, I have the WDTV (NOT the Live though) and it works fine. You'll have to teach the remote the buttons but that's not too bad. (I also got a cheap IR dongle/remote for my PS3 so it can control that too) It's a great remote. Programming it can be a bit of a pain initially but once you get the hang of it it's a pretty good remote. The charging station is a bit dodgy (I have to leave a small book on the remote to make sure it's making contact while charging) and you MUST use a PC/Mac to programme it.

Sorry, just reread your post. You'll probably need the WDTV remote to programme it alright.

Just checked the software there, and it recognized "WD TV Live" in the model database, so it will propabaly work with it. Havent got one myself so I cant test if its fully functional tho.

You may also need an internet connection while setting this up.

As someone who traded up from one of the lower end Logitech remotes (535 afaik) to the Harmony one I can tell you that there is no comparison.

The One really is as the name suggests.

Picked up one today in Curry's in Cork. There was one left although there may be more in the stock room.

Glad to hear this as I finally got fed up with my Philips Prestigo half-learning my remotes and ordered one from Komplett.

    how do these things work?
do you point your current remote at them for it to pick up the signal?
i wouldn't mind getting rid of the 5 remotes i use now
TV, Sky +, HDR, PS3 and ATI remote for the pc

It's an old model for sure, but you can use the software to update it's firmware/software....which i did :)

It's an older model but it's still top end, maybe not "One" high end...but still :)

Good question, in 2006 this was the top end of the line, the "One" is now....i'm not sure how the feature set differs, touch screen

Thanks OP. Picked one up in Swords. Still plenty left. The sticker price is €129 but go through as €47.97

Just got one of these myself. I'll probably wait until I get my surround sound before setting it up. :) It's gonna be sweet getting rid of all the remotes.

I have this remote and you can setup favourite channels (Brilliant for NTL digital) on this remote. You can have 6 per screen and as many screens as you want and add their logos etc. I've done it on mine (set up a device macro using just the TV and NTL/SKY/Whatever). It's a kickass remote and at this price is a steal. AFAIK about the only differences between this and the ONE is that the one has a touchscreen (this has 3 buttons either side of the screen) and the one has a better keypad layout (TBH, that's probably the greatest flaw with this remote, they could have made the most used buttons (play, stop etc) a bit bigger and arranged them better)
Interested in this... can it control TV, Sky HD box, Surround sound, Xbox media remote?

You may have to programme it using your original remotes from some more obscure devices but I've got mine working my Panasonic TV, my NTL Digital box, my Panasonic DVD Recorder, Videologic Surround, Ipod station, PS3 (needed to add a IR dongle from a cheap 3rd party PS3 remote though) Pioneer DVD player and HDMI Switcher.

I went to Liffey Valley and they are sold out but that could be because they were selling it for €30 as a "Managers Special" today. I was gutted to miss it at that price. The search continues!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 230 ✭✭Deadalus

Definately wanna get one of these. Anybody know if they have them in Currys in Dundalk? Wont get a chance to call to the store till this weekend though.

did you try both Currys in Liffey Valley ?

I tried both and nothing doing in either. They are showing one in stock in both shops but the Manager in LV told me that that remote was probably stolen and not taken off the system. I got my hopes up when I saw one in stock but unfortunately it wasn't to be.

There's a number here for all their stores, pretty ****ty system....

    1890 400001

You'll be talking to a robot and they'll go through loads of spiel before they connect you, they let it ring for 30 seconds before firing you back out into the main menu..... useless!

Anywhere else available in around Dublin?

If anyone finds one in Dublin I would be muchos greatful if you would pick it up for me and I could meet you in the city centre whenever suits and get you a pint for it. I know this is a longshot but no harm in asking.

I've given up hope of getting one now but the Harmony 515 is only 29.78 (ex delivery) on Komplett. Might be a worthy alternative.

    Just a rant.

I rang Currys in Blanchardstown yesterday at 5pm and was told they were open until 7pm and had six 785 remotes in stock.

I arrived at 6pm and the shop was closed. I then went back over this morning at 10am and was told they were sold out and the sales guy tried to sell me some other remote for €80 but I had no interest in it.

Did all my fellow Boardsies beat me to it in that ONE hour or did Currys make a mess of it and give me wrong information just to try to get me to the store to buy something else.

I think I know what happened & I'm not a happy camper at all.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Well my experience with the 785 has thus far been positive, it recognised my LCD and Blu-Ray, my cable box was a problem, not in database....so it asked me to push a few buttons on the remote. It then tell me we have a different brand remote in the database, all the buttons work but some are jumbled up. But you can modify all the buttons with the software....happy days!

Oh, and i input Xbox as well....even though i don't own a Xbox remote, it works!....happy days again, i get a free Xbox remote!

Do those yolks work for camcorders? Also, I have weird things like a funai video/dvd/hdd combo, how does it handle that?

Send me on the model number and I'll check if it's in the database.

It works with Hi-Fi stuff as well....basically ANYTHING that uses a IR remote.

    Hi j14,

Just saw your "rant". Bizarrely, without seeing your post I went into Curry's in Blanch today and guess what? They had 6 on the shelf - sorry! Good news though is that this was at 6pm and there are 5 left. Plus, I'd imagine with the weather you'll have no trouble picking one up tomorrow or Friday if you can get access to Blanch - the place was empty this evening.

There are 2 Curry's branches in Blanch, one in the main centre itself and one on the periphery. I suspect what you did was ring the one in the centre itself, and then went to the one on the periphery, right? I suspect this because I did this myself once. In fairness, if the staff had any cop on they'd have sent you over to the other store, but you know what they say about paying people peanuts......

    Hope you get sorted!

Long shot but here it goes. I'm going to need an optical switch to connect everything to my surround sound as it only has one optical connection. Does anyone know of an optical switch that I could control with this. Probably isn't anything out there but it would be extremely handy if there was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,488 ✭✭✭✭Ush1

I just rang Mahon Point branch. They first didn't know what I was talking about and then told me it's 129 euro?? Can anyone confirm?
