Mods: please close this thread at once, its conjuring up bad thoughts of having to spend january doing lots of cardio and without the pleasures of beer and chocolate :(

I, for one, did not gain at all this xmas so good times. I had a race stephens day and so didn't want to be sluggish for it so behaved, the race ended up canceled because of weather at the end of the day. I was a little more liberal with my eating but never stuffed myself. Kept up the training too. This was a first non fatty xmas for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

    was 116kg.
    now 117.1kg.
    not too bad.

I only drank one night over the christmas, was oct before that and august before that.
i kept training right through the xmas

    nutritional strictness begins again tomorrow.

On seeing this thread I went into the kitchen and ate a load of cheese.

And, I'm ashamed to say, some hulahoops.

Not sure at the minute - weight is up and down over the last few days - taking an average just over a kilo.
Not bad considering I binged as hard as i possibly could and didnt train for 2.5 weeks :pac:

Back in the Gym today and it was rough...

Actually I lost weight this year due to eating in moderation! Last year I put on about 4 kilos in 3 days. thats country dinners and a fry for breakfast every morning!!

this year dinner each day and cereal for brekkie along with walks with the dogs!!

I'm up 4.5kgs (10lbs) in just over two weeks!.

I absolutely abandoned training and ate & drank everything within arm's reach!.

I'm up at 120kgs now, but I'll be back down to 115kgs in a few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,549 ✭✭✭Noffles

Must of gained about 3 or 4k this time... not as bad as usual but I seem to have a different feel about the new year... Normally I would be looking to gain at my lifting but for some reason I'm looking at seeing what I can do with my running this year... and maybe because I'm 40 now I could have different "wants..."

About 3KG. Not too bad. Not all fat either. I copped on around the 28th or so. The booze was starting to affect my stomach so I eased off on that too. I've no fights for at least 10 weeks so plenty of time to shift it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,199 ✭✭✭G-Money

I actually lost 5 lbs, however since Monday I haven't been eating perfectly and havent been to the gym for about 2 weeks so I may have put a 1 lb or 2 lb back on.

Pretty much the exact same weight I started xmas at, waist is the same or down a tad, calipers are the same.

Been out 5 out of the last 8 nights, ate half a tin of Quality Street today and honestly didn't watch what I was eatng over xmas other than making sure my protein was high enough.

Guess Smolov's kept me in shape :p

2 days of it left, gonna pick back up the metcon work for the next 3-4 weeks then and try to be in decent shape for the CF invitational.

Best bet is to just watch my log to be honest. The majority of them will probably be chippers in the 15-20 minute range because that's where I'm weakest. Generally my strength will get me thru the 3-7 minute workouts because the weight tends not to be that challenging for me, and I'm hoping that the 15-20 minute ones will improve the 7-15 minute range too!!

EDIT: And if ya think I'd be afraid of people helping me because I don't want competition, you couldn't be more wrong!! Just ask anyone I train with!! If someone beats me at anything it's cos they've trained harder or more intelligently. If someone beats me using my own advice, then they must have trained harder, and I'm confident enough not many people will do that :p

Will keep an eye on it - thanks.

Really thinking about going to the invitational, but dont want to embaress myself by puking or not finishing :)

106-7kgs to 112-3kgs, all in the gut! Have done very little training wise in four months (torn ankle ligaments, bruised kneecap bone, wrist injury, broken coccyx) mainly bodyweight stuff, some rowing and cycling for me in the next 4-5 weeks. Can't wait to get back to office in February, on-site gym = win

im 88kg at the moment was 86.5 at the start of decmeber and considering that I havent been to the gym in the last 3 weeks and i've been on some major sessions ,i dont think i faired too badly :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 873 ✭✭✭InKonspikuou2

Was 98 kgs on Dec 23rd. As of now i am 102 kgs. My diet didn't change much over Christmas other than maybe missing one meal the odd day in place of a smaller snack due to waking up late because of the night before. I don't eat sweets or cake or anything so Christmas is never a challenge for me other than the drinking. Drank a fair whack over Christmas but i usually drink rum and water or agua mala (bad water) as my mother calls it. A Colombian term. Back to normality tomorrow and going for a heavier bulk. Going for steak, 4 fillets of chicken and fish every day. Also 8-10 eggs. Gonna be an expensive 2-3 months.

I got badly sun burned and can't go to the gym for over a week, and maybe the next week too.

so, i haven'y weighed myself, but I imagine i'm fat again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,031 ✭✭✭Cravez

Put on about a kilo, no impact on bodyfat either. Even ate half a litre of toffee ice cream after the two full Christmas day dinners :D

I'm in the same boat as yourself, up the few kgs but don't have to worry about fighting for another while.

I'm back in Judo tonight, but still have a few bottle's left out the back so I'll polish them off after training this evening and I'm back on the wagon :D

Christmas is approx 10 days and 2 stone = 28 lbs so that'd mean you put on nearly 3 pounds a day - think you might need to check that again.

I actually lost a kilo not that I needed to. I went to the gym religiously over the xmas period on days it was open.

I've been 16st6lb for the last couple of years, but tall and happy with that, this Christmas I went a bit mad, broke my gluten-free diet and ate pretty much everything sweet or nacho shaped, and now I am 17st1lb :(

I will just have to do many many laps on my lunch break, and get rid of it!
Happily the surroundings are nice, Donabate and Portrane so I will, at least, have something nice to look at whilst I get shot of all that pudge!

Everything seems to still fit me though!
    That's nice!

Unfortunately :) the battery went on my weighing scales during Christmas so I have no idea how much I have put on, but my God I am scared to look, I know it's about 7lbs.
What - apart from back to the eating regimen - is the quickest way to lose it...cardio or weights & resistance?

    Heeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllp!!!

    Thanks!!

Don't sweat it, usually its just fluids and comes off quick enough.

The problem when we let our guard down like we do at Christmas is the risk of letting that kind of eating & drinking set in as a routine.

Actually I would sweat it personally, as I find anything that makes me sweat a lot (running & weights) helps me lose water weight / bloating quicker :p :pac:

I really really went for it from the 15th Dec and went from 93 - 94.5 so not too bad but still work to be done. As others have said, defo worth it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,375 ✭✭✭kmick

I got the winter vomiting bug and lost at least half a stone if not a bit more. It cleaned me out good. Those work trousers that were extremely tight are now a perfect fit. The upside to illness eh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,800 ✭✭✭The Guvnor

    Not too bad really.
I was as low as 111.5kg before xmas, as in late November. I weigh myself on the wii fit board as I cannot fudge the number (too much!:)). I believe over xmas I went as high as 117kg but this was of an evening.

Now I did weigh myself on the 1st in the am and I was 114kg on the wii fit board. I would say now about 113kg and I am happy with this. I was as high as 121kg in June of last year so dropped 10kg and only put back on 1.5kg so overall good.

Now if I can just spot reduce the cheese on the midsection and gain size elsewhere...:D
