i have been living in tyrellstown for the last 3 years and what the other poster says about the estate being run down is bull.
before living there i rented in clonee nice place most of my mates that i grew up with all moved out there(nobody could afford to buy where we grew up)

the buses are a pain in the arse when going into town you have the 40d &38c but your going have the same problems no matter where you go.
i used to get the 39 from clonee into town and on average it took over an hour, rather than taking peoples advise on boards you should go to these places and see whats it like for yourself, when i was thinking of buying here i visited the place during the day&night to see what it was like and i have to say its a quiet estate.
you can also check out the community website(run by people living here)

    http://www.tyrrelstown.net/forum/

The older part of the estate is run down. The so called management company who are supposed to look after horticulture haven't touched it properly except for hacking at plants before xmas. I walk around Tyrrelstown everyday and the older parts of the estate is in desperate need of a revamp- the apartments badly need to be painted, the pathways need to be weeded. Oh and there is a dead cat lyin at the entrance of the older estate it has been there for over a week now (and before anyone starts saying I should move it myself or do something about it, I have) I rang both the management company (who said it wasn't there responsibility!) and I also rang the rspca twice!! I'm not denying its a nice estate to live in but the older parts of the estate have been neglected!

Older as in 7 or 8 years, it's not that old. And the issue with why it hasn't been maintained is simply because of the rather ridiculous advice of the Socialist Party. They told the residents that they didn't have to pay their management fee, therefore resulting in the managing agent not having any money to pay for the upkeep.

The reason why the rest of the estate is better looking is because they use a different management agent and are presumably more sensible than to blindly listen to the socialist party.

So it's a catch-22 situation, the residents can hardly complain that the area isn't been maintained if they won't pay to maintain it. The rest of the area seem happy enough to and one management committee even employees a caretaker to pick up any rubbish on a daily basis. The management company who told you it's not their responsibility to remove the cat, presumably Smiths, are correct as that part of the road is in the control of Fingal now. I don't think the RSPCA can prevent much more cruelty to an already dead cat so they're not going to waste their already scarce resources to pay for the removal and disposal of a dead cat.

@blueberry1978, welcome to Boards.ie and the D15 forum!
That type of response is not helpful, and may get you infracted. Please observe boards.ie and D15 guidance before you post some more; threads here and here that you should read to get you used to the place.

Perhaps you would like to expand upon your theory a little, and provide some useful on-topic responses to the original post?

Note that selling or shilling wont be tolerated on boards, and your post reads a little like a shill to me - I'll let it ride for the moment and give you a chance to prove otherwise.

What did i say wrong? IMO Castleknock would be the first place in Dublin 15 i'd go for, prices show the masses agree, then Carpenterstown area, masses agree.

Best for transport links like trains, best for local schools, best pubs, nearest park, lowest areas for crime..these are the unfortunate truths weather you like it of not.

I'm not saying you're wrong, just looking for you to expand a bit more on your post, rather than just going overboard '>' signs!
And you did exactly that so there is no problem whatsoever, and in fact I would agree broadly with your opinion.

I guess I will be looking into the like of Clonsilla, Hartstown, Huntstown, and places like that. The likes of Warrenstown, Corduff and Mulhuddart which are quite affordable right now I will be avoiding. In an ideal world I would prefer not to buy in Dublin 15, but a lot of properties are still over priced, especially where i have viewed, such as Ratoath and parts of KIldare. Even places like Tyrellstown, where they have a newish development there called Oakland village, well over half of the property is still vacant, I would have thought that the builders would have cut the asking price there.

Whats wrong with warrenstown been living there for a while now and never had any trouble. never hear a peep out of any of my neighbours and and not seen anything i shouldnt have either.

Trains are usually fairly full by the time they reach castleknock/coolmine (no chance of a seat). Carpenterstowns is hard best for pubs? On the crime issue not sure if you have some stats to back up your statements. Your statements sound like someone trying to sell a house in carpenterstown whether you agree or not!.
