Great to meet and run with you during the marathon Baza, good luck with the recovery and mind yourself!

First run in 6 weeks since OP. Surgeon said all went well and that I could go running as soon as I felt up to it. I kinda put it off to tell the truth, instead for the last 3 weeks I cycled to work 8 times so far. I play 4 games of astro turf 5 aside. When I get out of breath I walk a bit........ nervous:o

So today after I got home from work, I did some lawn mowing..... Afterwards I said feck this......... out with the runners and off on a 3 mile loop. I found it tough(ish). At first I felt disappointed. But on reflection I'm glad to be back:D

I'm not signing up for any more marathons this year..... the plan is to get my fitness level back up to were it was and run either connemara or Limerick or both next year...... After that I just want to complete the 1000 mile challenge.

Good man Baza - welcome back!

I've being cycling to work on and off over the last few weeks and playing 5 aside at least twice a week. But the 3 mile ring I usually do is leaving me so out of breath it feels like it's my first time ever running. To add, I'm practically jogging. I usually tip around in about 20min with not a bother, last night took me about 28 min and I was fit to drop at teh end

Just show how my fitness has dropped.... frightening really.

3 miles again last thursday night as well as the 16 miles to work.
Another 3 miles on Saturday and SUnday. Feeling better now with these miles. I plan to stick with the 3 mile runs for rest of week and maybe turn out a 6miler on Sunday. I know I couls a 6 or even a 12 miler as I'm feeling the groove again, but I'm in no rush as I have no marathon to do till next year.

I didn't get out yesteday as I was out on Saturday night with work...... Because I knew I wouldn't get out on Sunday I did 6 miles of a run with the dog rather then a usual 3 miler.....

I know I keep saying it but I'm really enjoying the short runs.... Teh fact that I won't be doing any LSRs till December means I'm gone no longer than hour which means I'm more realxed and not worrying about how the kids are treating Mrs Baza!!!!

    Sunday,

I didn't get out on Saturday........ I have a million reasons why and if you'd like to kow PM me :D

Anyway Sunday....... I've been wanting to do this for a while now, esp as I haven't been up Keeper hill since new years eve when I was up to my waist in snow.

So I cycled the 5 miles to the car park, hide my bike and off i went. I took it handy, I was always planning on doing the 5k up and down route which is marked by a ribbon/bow tied to a marker. It took me a slow 34 min going up but a fast 17 min to come down. I just let the hill take me on the way down. Cycled home.

So I was delighted to get that run in. Felt great after it.

Monday: Played some 5 aside footie.
    Tuesday: 3 miles
Wednesday: Some of the IMRA runners were meeting in Ballina, Tipp for a run up tountina. 5 enjoyable miles.
    Thursday: 3miles
    Friday: rest
    Saturday; 3 miles
Sunday: Same as last Sunday. I cycled 5 miles to bottom of Keeper Hill. I then hid my bike and ran up to the 5k marker that IMRA lads have in place and back down again. By far the most enjoyable run. I was watching 2 lads on the paraglider thingys with fan on the back of them floating about as I was ascending.

Monday 9th, Played some 5 aside footie for about 1hr and 20min. I know it’s not part of a training plan, but it still got the heart pumping so still a work out of sorts.

Thursday 12th, After the footie area behind my knee (kinda top of calf, bottom of hamstring) was very tender so tonight was my first run since Keeper on Sunday. 3 miles handy pace.

Sunday15th, I took part in the Triathlon being held in Bana just outside of Tralee. I ran the 5k while 2 colleagues completed the relay with me. Great fun.
Very Little done this week even by my own very high standards:o

Monday 16th, 3 miles again late in the evening after small man was out to bed. I felt tired during this run. I think it was more to do with standing around all say in the sun while competing in the triathlon then the 5k itself.

Tuesday 17th, Another 3 miles. The same lap as the night before with more spring in my step.

Wednesday 18th, Some of the IMRA (and some who are not IMRA) were meeting for a run in Clare Glens. 3 laps and 7 miles later I was FINISHED. Really enjoyed sliding around in the mud, good fun. Had a little dip in the water at the end, more to clean up the runners than anything else.

Wed: Cycled to and from work, 16miles in total. DIdn't make it to meet with IMRA guys between work and home etc, so I went for 4 mile run near home.

    Thursday: Another hr of footie.

    Fri: rest.

Saturday: I ran the 5k in Murroe. I finished in 22min. I wasn't very happy with it to be honest. The 2nd km, well, I felt so weak. COuldn't believe it. I was hoping to finish in low 21's or even a 20min run. My heart rate was very high during this race average 168!!!!! This is very unusual for me.

Sunday: Some laps of the Clare Glens whiel my wife and youngest kid were walking around. My small man got a real buzz each time I caught up with them. Something we must do more often:)
While they drove home me and the dog were dumped as we were too dirty for the car. So all in all 9 miles of fun running.

I've been nursing a lingering injury for over the last week:( SO an update on the previous week.

Monday 1/9/10. Astro footie for an hr

Tuesday 2/9/10. a slow 7 miles with one of the neighbours. He is just starting out. I think he thinks I'm some hero because of the marathons i have run......... he'll learn;)

Wednesday 3/9/10. Some IMRA guys were doing keeper agin so I joined in. 10k in total. I was running late. When I arrived they shouted if they should wait (i forgot to tie my laces :o lol ) I said no, go on I'll follow. Well this was good as I was able to pick off some runners on the way up and on the way back down.

Thursday 4/9/10. Astro footie for an hr.

I had major trouble getting out of bed this morning so had to eg for a lift to work as my car is there since last Thursday.
