Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In The Play-pen: Fad

Now, why exactly the C&H mods asked me to open the first thread of a series called "In the Play-pen", I really don't want to think tbh ... >_>

But they (or at least the poetic one) did! Snitch!! :-p

Ok, so ... what's this all about then?

Well, basically the idea is that one "volunteer" agrees to expose themselves to the masses for three days, or until frostbite causes their extremities to wilt, and answer all reasonable questions thrown at them. What do they want to be when they grow up? ... What is the meaning of life? ... Boxers or briefs? ... How often do they play with themselves, and do they prefer Nintendo or Playstation? ... Favourite films / books / music, and why? ... Most embarrassing moment? ... Steak charred crisp or bloody as hell? ... within reason, your imagination is the only limit.

It's an opportunity for you, their fellow users, to get to know them more intimately, but do remember that everyone has a limit on how much they are prepared to share on a first date. If someone skips or fudges on a question which may be a bit personal, let it lie. Everyone's entitled to decide who gets access to their personal zone ...

A bit of banter and good-humoured teasing is par for the course for these types of threads, especially among users who have come to know one another quite well, but they are NOT an opportunity to have a go at the person in the limelight, and the mods will be on hand to administer spankings to those who don't have the cop-on to understand this. Be careful of Insect Overlord in particular, I saw him in Limerick the other day buying a new studded leather paddle, presumably for Boards use, so if you fall foul of him, it's apt to sting!! What the assless chaps were for I have no idea, but in fairness they did look well on him ... >_>

Well, that's the general idea, I think ...

To start the ball rolling, Fad has stepped up to be the first victim volunteer.

Be gentle, he's still tender after New Year's Eve ... ;)

And I guess I may as well throw a few questions into your ring ...

    College / course / why?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

    Proudest moment of your life?

Most embarrassing moment of your life?

    Proud culchie or pathetic jackeen?

    Thong or bikini?

Have you ever had a neurotic moment? Did you both enjoy it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,445 ✭✭✭Jako8

If you had to pick one album as the best of all time, what one would it be?

    Thrush seven.
And I guess I may as well throw a few questions into your ring ...

College / course / why? UCD/Science/Asking myself the same question (Working on that.....)

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? Probably still in college in some way shape or form.

Proudest moment of your life? My leaving cert results were very adequate, and werent even enough to get me the course I wanted, but I was very proud. Didnt see myself breaking 400 because things didnt really go particularly well in the leaving!

Most embarrassing moment of your life? There have been a few, worst was mixing a load of spirits and subsequently projectile vomiting across my friends living room all over the carpet. I however blacked out for all of this and woke up in the shower in my boxers, no idea how I got there. Wasnt the end of the vomiting either......bad times

Proud culchie or pathetic jackeen? Jackeen sadly, I would happily live in the country if I had an adequate broadband connection (Elusive even here though) and some form of bus route.

    Thong or bikini? Mankini

Have you ever had a neurotic moment? Did you both enjoy it? Long story.

Fad was actually at this recently for another forum I think, but I guess I'll start:

I notice you work at a gas station, is it not abit hectic going to college and then having a gas station job?

Bottled water is stupid. True or false?

Do you believe man landed on the moon?

    Are you single? ;)

    Yes

I actually have two jobs.....I work in the labs in my old school during the week (Only about 4 or 5 hours) and the station. The school pays more, and is actually sort of fun (I have developed an intense dislike of concentrated acids as a result though), I hate the petrol station, but my dad's the manager so I cant quit :(

Bottled water is stupid. True or false? False, but only because I've been to Vietnam and the tap water is just not a good idea....

Do you believe man landed on the moon? Sadly, yes.

    Are you single? No

Probably......John Peel. I think there are very few people who had such a profound effect on modern music as him. Also from reading the part of his auto/biography, he seems like a funny and endearing guy :).

Oooh,Vietnam sounds cool! Why were you there/what did you think of it? :)

I've been to China too, but Vietnam was a nicer place in general though (Was also in the airport in Malaysia, which is a magical place).

Vietnam is incredibly hot and monsterously humid. But I loved it, the people are, generally incredibly friendly (Clearly after your money, but unlike in China, they do it with a bit of class!). I was in the two main cities, and both are lovely but no where nearly as developed as Ireland, I loved it, I hope to go back some day :D

The food, however, is not nice, at all.
    jumpguy wrote: »

At varying points James Hetfield/Matt Heafy/Gerard Way (Well still him to a little extent, but not the same anymore)

At the moment/for the past while; Trent Reznor

Bullets is more consistently good, first half of Three Cheers isnt as good as the second half.

I bought it at a certain time where life suddenly started to become bearable...

    It has Drowning Lessons.

How'd you get mod of the JC forum? eVeNtInE (Hope I got the capitalisation right!) PM'd me. That's it really

Is it a handful? I can see it being "Fun" around the time of the Mocks/actual JC but there'll never be something as bad as English Paper 2 last in the LC forum :)

How'd you get on in your own JC? All honours except classical studies which I left after 35 mins purely to annoy the teacher (I fúcking HATE that man, fairly confident he knows it too).

Are you always tempted to check revised edited posts? Nah, if something looks suspicious maybe, but rarely.

Need to enter something here so I can post this message.....
