I'm looking to get fit and tone up but I don't want to diet. I want to join a class of some sort near home (Dublin 9) but I don't know where to start and I can't abide going to the gym alone. I've been at Curves and got fed up with the same music and routine every time. I would like a dance or yoga class, something that will improve my agility and tone. Any ideas?

Not in Dublin so no specific recommendation but most people go to exercise classes alone. You can't chat while doing yoga. Don't be shy, just choose the class you'd like and off you go!

If you want to get fit and tone up you will need to adopt, in line with your desired increase in physical activity, some kind of eating plan.

    Just the way it is.

And whatever class you do won't improve your "tone"(?) worth a damn unless you change the eating habits that you currently have (which i am making the assumption are poor ).

Any gym will have a variety of class options ( or at least, 90% of them do ) so just check out the gyms in your local area and see what is on offer.

Ideally, if you adopt a clean eating plan, and but the effort into the classes then you will be well on your way to achieving your goal. Best of luck.

A lot of gyms run classes, maybe check gyms near you? My local one does things like spinning classes, latino aerobics, taebo. Ive done the latino aerobics one, its fun exercise. about 70-80% of the people in the class were there alone.

i think im being dragged to taebo this week. i made a drunken promise id go. im a bit scared :o

Northwood (Ben Dunne) does great fitness classes. I used to live in Dublin 9 and went to a few circuit classes and Boxercise (something like that!) classes and they were very good. There was only ever one guy in the class, always wearing an Ireland jersey- it was funny! But they have a great big room there, a lot of gyms only seem to have tiny rooms for those classes.

There's a great Rebounding and Toning Class in Ashbourne(Residence Hotel). Starting Wednesday 13th of January. 8pm, drinks and weights supplied. Rebounding is aerobic activity on a mini trampoline. No impact on joints. Phone 0879723261 for more details.;)

This place is pretty good. They do pilates and yoga for various levels. There is also a guy who does box fit type classes that are pretty good if you'd like to check them out.
