Critique my deadlift

Pretty simple. I video'd my deadlift earlier and want some feedback as to whether my form is ok or not. From watching it, it looks like I'm lifting too much with my back and my back seems sort of arched across the shoulders. I don't know if that's right or not.

I was deadlifting 45kg on this. I'd done several warmup sets so I was getting a bit tired :)

Edit: I've removed the link as it won't play for some stupid reason.

Yeah, am having the same issue myself, don't know why.

I deleted it and uploaded it again and it still won't work. Have no idea why. It says it uploaded successfully.

I can't say much about your deadlift but your deadlink leaves a lot to be desired.

It's my first time uploading a video to YouTube. The upload apparently worked but I can't play it for some reason.

    Got it working now:

Well the bar/plates are too low to the ground, which means you have to get into a more awkward position at the beginning. If those are the widest plates you have, I would prop them up on something

It doesn't look bad to me, although you should try and get you chest up more at the beginning, which will stop your upper back rounding

    Watch this video.

Try keep your chest up a bit more and your back won't round.

    As above.

    No need for gloves either.

Mark Rippetoes videos are actually a great starting point.

For me the height of the plates aren't a major thing.

The big thing is the arching of the back. Learn to not let it arch. Think Superman chest, big chest.

Maybe your lacking a certain amount of mobility in your hips and thats why your not able to get down low enough or maybe your just not concious of how low you have to go.

If you try and can't get yourself down low enough then you'll have to start doing some dynamic stretches for your hips glutes and static stretching afterwards. if you've been squating the day before this may have left you a bit tight.

I had similar problems at one point - its all not moving together

Watch this video - it should become quite clear

Very easy to fix your problems.
Take a deep breath and fill your lungs ,this supports your rib cage and makes it so your chest doesn't collapse forwards, now tense your abs, this creates a pressure which will stop your torso coming forward. Now slightly arch your lower back and tense that as well. Now dead lift.
    Keep solid!!!:)
    How tall are you anyway?

    Ok heres my 2cents

First of all i think you would benifit with placing the plates on a prop, as its very low at the moment, even something like a phone book would help adjust the height.

I think your too close to the bar, at second 6, just before you begin to pull, you can see that your shoulders and knees are infront of the bar.So as you begin to pull your knees are actually stopping the bar from moving directly up forcing your back to round in order to clear your knees.

The mark rippletoe video which has been posted up is very good, he shows the importance of finding the middle of the foot.

Form seems to be holding you back as you have loads of power

Jay, his back is already rounded before the bar leaves the floor.
The shoulders are supposed to be infront of the bar, so the scaps are over the bar.

My point was that the position of the bar is forcing him to round his back from the start, even before he begins to pull, If he was tring to lift even an empty bar, his form would be the same, so pretty much move the bar away from shins.

just watched a vid of me deadlifting and im pretty much doing everything that im saying not to do DOHHHHHHHHHHH
