Ok thought I would start a new thread, I know that the calls probably haven't gone out yet, but I ain't able to make it to January induction so have had to defer to February and have my start date! Anyone else in the same boat?

I have been kinda hoping i might get the call for feb, well im still kinda hoping i get it at all, but if it dont come this week i dont think it would be until march at earliest seeing as u would need at least a months notice, thats even if there is gonna be one in march!

same here - I'm just waiting on vetting to clear and it feels like an age! It is really hard to focus on work at the minute - my phone is constantly in front of me just in case the call comes through

Yea im the same at the min, am chekcing it every 5 or 10 mins just to make sure that it hasnt run out of power or anything! A little desperate but sure!!

I'm in the same boat - waiting for vetting to clear. I eamiled them in mid-December and they told me I hadn't cleared yet. Fingers crossed I have by now. I just can't focus on work at all! I have a caution for careless driving from a few years ago - wonder if that could be holding up the vetting?

where are you guys on the merit, if you dont mind me asking? im in 150's and thinking it could be april if I'm offered a place. Dunno if my vettings cleared yet, it's only been 3 months!

120's RC - everything was sent off in July but vetting called last month to clarify one or 2 things.

Im exactly the same, non RC 150s, vetting away November.

Im a bit further down than u guys, 190's non rc, maybe i shouldnt be holding out too much hope of getting the call, my vetting only went away in about October so no idea how long it will take!

Jonnym61 - other guys (and gals) on the forum have advised not to disclose exact details of merit places etc. Use the edit button and amend to something along the lines of '190s.'

Non RC merit 140s. Vetting away almost 5 months now. No word back yet. Led to believe that for some poor souls it has taken up to 2 years! Prepare for a long wait. If it comes sooner, then it's a bonus.

I'm worrying that they wont take on the full 440 but I found this paper from Paul Goggins which says recruitment will continue throughout the year. Anyone else read it? here's the link....

I was told that they would be pooling the group for the end of February in the next couple of weeks and calls would be a couple of weeks away, im hoping to get the call for the end of Feb, just hate all the waiting.....

i called them up and asked them if my vetting was passed......i had to go and do the fitness test as my BMI was a little above what they wanted, so i only got a letter on new years eve telling me i had passed the fitness, by which time i had missed the January intake

That's a shame. Look on the plus side you have about 8 weeks notice before you start. Plenty of time to get your life in order. :D

I rang to check if my vetting was clear yet ( and was told I shouldn't be contacting them!). I was told my vetting was outstanding. Anybody have a clue as to how long the process generally takes?

it does say not to contact them!

You need to have patience. The whole process can take a long time, start to finish. Sometimes over a year.

Sorry cduck - forgot to say I have passed the medical. I contacted vetting today (even though you're not supposed to) and they told me I had been processed and the results had been passed to recruitment. I was so relieved to hear this, it was only afterwards I realised that they didn't tell me if I'd passed!

This is gonna sound like a stupid question at this stage but its just put a doubt in my head today, Are merit positions are given out before the medical and the vetting ??

Yes merit listing is based on the AC only (and IST if scores are tied). In reality there will be people with a low merit score who do not pass vetting and/or the medical.

Cheers for that, its what i thought it owuld be but nice to have somone confirm it for me, not that im still holding out muhc hope with my score compared to the amount of others on here with good bit lower scores!

This is just a thought, but if they took all the top merit scores then everyone at starting months would be the best and then come the summer time it would be people in an intake who didn't score that well, does anyone think that they may mix the scores somehow? ie that could be a reason why some people with really low merit scores like 10-20 on these boards haven't yet been called?

Also PcPete, you said you had your feb start date, if you don't mind me asking is this at the start of the month or at the end? Because someone said here that they were still pooling and calls would go out at end of month.

My take on it is as follows:

1. All in the merit pool have demonstrated that they have the required competences to be a police officer therefore they are all 'quality';
2. There is very little to separate people on the merit list - even 5 or 6 points can make a huge difference in the merit placing;
3. Vetting dictates who starts sooner rather than later.

I would say the calls go out to those who have passed vetting and then in merit list order. This would explain why low merit scores of 10-20 are not in yet. Vetting, vetting, vetting! :mad:
