Bulking up - where to start?

Hi, so I'd like to bulk up.
I've never properly been to a gym or had a good diet plan so if someone could link me to regimes/plans or something, I'd really appreciate it. I'm 20, 5'11/6'0/185lbs. I'm just wondering where do I start? Do I need to buy certain things? (Dumbbells etc) Is it just as easy as raising and lowering the dumbell? Also, what does "keeping your core intact" or something mean? Sorry for all the questions.

    Thanks.

Is this a serious question? Did you do your fifty press ups before posting?

It's a well structured and valid question. He wants to know what to eat, what to lift and what he needs to buy to do it.

If we're looking down our noses at people who are beginners/weaker/not is as good shape/don't know as much, then I'm gonna start doing it too, and you'll all be fcuked.

Well said Hanley, well said. So is anybody going to answer his questions? Everyone had to start from scratch at some stage!

Go to a jim, sure you can buy weights and teach yourself at home but that can only take you so far, unless you buy a durty bug squat rack and an olympic bar.

Essentially eat as much food as possible, lots more protein. surplus of calories = bulk.
And pick up and put down heavy things.

    Then pick them up again.

    And then put them down

Read this, print it out and keep re-reading it. It will get you started in the right direction.

Join a gym and either ask an instructor or look on the internet for weight lifting routines. Starting Strength is usually recommended for beginners. Have a look at the stickies here to get the diet part right.
