from what i learned about jesus growing up as a kid , my impression would be that he was most definatley a socilist , he spoke out against the rich and called on them to give thier wealth to the poor , in america of course , jesus is a republican voting capitalist who despises wealth distribution :D

the bible states that man is created in the immage of god , i perfer another quote i heard not so long ago , god is created in the immage of man , baschically , people usually decide what god believes based on what fits with thier own agenda

Indeed, God would have a hard time keeping track of all the causes he supposedly represents! He'd be a tired old man, certainly :)

    Jesus was Jesus,
    incomprehensible?
would calling him a socialist make Him comprehensible?
    hardly!

As Fanny points out, however, in her own wonderfully eloquent way,
no-one here seems to understand if there's a point to categorising Jesus.

Oh dear! Read the charter and spare us from the next bout of textual diarrhoea.

It seems to me that Jesus advocated socialism, said stuff about giving one of your shirts to the man who had none and also threw out the merchants from the temple.

So was Jesus a socialist or not?

No. He was not. You refer to two actions and from those two incidents you draw your personal views, I sugest that you need to dig deeper.

Indeed. Trying to apply post-industrial economic divisions to a pre-industrial age can be a fairly redundant pursuit.

I not sure if we can say that Jesus pronounced explicit economic policies during his ministry, at least not ones that can be safely squared with the modern-day social science.

google translate does not accomodate 'commiespeak' into English

kindly write / explain yourself in 21st Century English

btw, 'the message' is simpler than the choices of your complexities.

Hush little boy. If you can't understand big words maybe you should turn off the computer switch. No-one here is going to dumb themselves down for you.

Regardless of wether Jesus was a Socialist, he was most certianly anti-capitalist.

“It’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom”.

“You cannot be the slave of two masters… You cannot serve God and money”

“Do not store up treasures on Earth where moths and rust destroy and robbers break in and steal, but store up for yourself treasures in Heaven”

Jesus spoke a lot of money and what he said suggests he would be vehmently against modern day capitalism and free market policys.

I don't see how that is against capitalism. The charitable presbyterians of the 17th/18th/19th centuries prove that financial improvement (IE, increasing their stock of capital) is not entirely unreasonable when done with a Christian twist.

We hope to out-do our proud heritage in the 21st Century ;)
