Its St Stephens's's's day :pac: ;)

God how am I not looking forwards to this, my two teams meet in a duel to the dearth (of good football). At the start of the season I really hoped either could survive a defeat with comfort by this stage. Instead both need points but Liverpool probably need them more, which is not something I expected to type.

    I love it :D

Up at 12, small bit of lunch before the Birmingham V Chelsea game, start the drinking of bottles of Budweiser at kick off, watch us get three vital points V Everton and then the evening game between Liverpool and Wolves.

More Turkey and Ham sandwiches before heading off to the pub at about 8, happy after watching the days football and drinking most of the day only to return home about 3am stumbling in the door

    Love it.

Tis, but when posting with regards to British games it would make sense to call it "Boxing Day" as techinally that's when the games are played.

I was born and raised in England though, so still refer to the day as Boxing Day, as it is traditionally known as over there.

Ah lads ffs let's not get bogged down in terminology - the thrust of the man's post is solid (i.e., the glory of having a day of football after Christmas day to look forward to) regardless of whether he calls it Stephen's day, Boxing day or whatever. Let's get off our nationalist high horses, it's Christmas :)

he called it St. Boxing Day...clearly a joke...

I used to hate calling it boxing day untill i found out what it means,
It refers to the day where the higher classes package presents in boxes so they can be easily transported and given to those less fortunate and tbh i was just trying to com up with a mike65(TM) witty title.

Anyway back on topic 3 vital points today please harry.

Call it what you want mate. Anyway, I think Chelsea have two very tough fixtures over the xmas period and I'm predicting them to drop at least 2 points.

Should say in case anyone hasn't heard that Setanta Ireland is unscrambled on Sky for today so the City-Stoke game is free to watch.

Yes big few days for Villa. We will know more about them after Wednesday in terms of their top for credentials.

Dindane can count himself a little lucky to be still on the field. 2 poor challenges to get his yellow and has had 3 fouls and a handball given against him since then.
Parkers running the show for us yet again. I'm praying he isn't sold in January :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Goals at a premium so far. Just the one - a peno for West Ham

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

    Bolton one up, Matt Taylor

Sounds like Fulham are doing everthing except win the game. edit 0-0 FT

    Kovac made it 2-0 :D
First clean sheet for us since the first day of the season.

    Hows A reid doing?

    Hows A reid doing?

    He's playing ok.

Had a free kick maybe 20-22 yards out saved 'off the line' (was a lot more comfortable than this sounds). He will always be a danger when given time to pick a ball out/delivery from set piece.

Sunderland need to get him on the ball a bit more and I'd prefer to see him playing a bit more central to be honest.

    I don't know but I don't think he's very popular in Ireland.

thought i'd post this here, as it's mildly related.

there seems to be some needle between Jeff Stelling and Phil Thompson on Soccer Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,388 ✭✭✭d22ontour

    Taken from BBC Football:

1513: Didier Drogba is caught by a flailing John Pantsil arm, and goes down like he's been murdered. As well as being a magnificent footballer, he does do theatrics beautifully. He's OK.

    :D

Stelling and Thommo having a laugh about it now.

Rofl, did you hear what Stelling just said? "Phil I must apologise, I didnt mean to alert any burglars to the fact youre house will be empty tomorrow..." Classic! What a show, nothing better on a Saturday when theres no footie on the box,

ha, i missed that making myself a bit of grub.

    damn,

    it's essential viewing, no joke.

even something mundane like merson trying to pronounce bilahet(whatever)...was just wonderful television.
