    Following on from another thread.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055773398

How much is the maximum you would pay for a haircut?

A bloke I know goes to Tony & Guys ( a well known up market hairdressers ) , where he pays up to €90 for a “styled” haircut.

If I pay more than €12 I feel like I’ve been done.

I used to be engaged to a hairdresser and got done by her loads of times.

But the question was…. how much do you pay for a haircut?

I paid 40 quid one time! In my defence I really really needed a cut (was like a day away from a full on mullet) and I didn't know what price it would be, nothing advertiseed)in fairnes it wsa a really nice haircut, but probably not worth that! Now I get it cut for a tenner and its just as good.

An ex of mine used to work in a place on dawson street that used to charge some ridiculous amount to get your mop chopped by the head stylist..

So used to get my hair cut off her for free.. until.. ahem..

Now i get it done in a place in Ranelagh called G-Male.. 30 blips for a good hair cut where they actually listen to what you say.. also they have x-box.. WIN!

After seeing some of the prices people are paying.

I just want to make it clear that this thread is for blokes haircuts.

Right now I wouldn't go above 12 euro for a cut.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 805 ✭✭✭Irish_polizei

lol^ The most i would be willing to pay would be a tenner, sure it only takes 2mins to shave mine, 2 n top and 1.5 on sides, no fringe :P

But as with everything in life. You get what you pay for.

40 at Toni and Guy cos I'm losing it and want it to look nice before tis all gone :(

I really don't think so, at different times I have paid €40 and I have paid €5, depending on what way you get it cut there is not €35 worth of difference imo.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,273 ✭✭✭Morlar

    Just to prove the point ;

    Exhibit A €40
    Exhibit B €5

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35 gav_neonstars

Well i suppose if you just getting a normal short back and sides a €10 cut will do fine. But if you prefare your hair a bit longer with a bit of an unusual cut on it like myself going to a cheap and cheerful place is a baaaaad idea. Will defiantly get scalped 8 times out of 10. Payin a few more sheckles for peace of mind is worth it IMO.

1985 my mother paid before I went to university

    1988 I paid can't remember how much.

A girlfriend paid for highlights in 1990

Think that was it. I wouldn't pay to have my hair cut. I don't want to have it cut. And I know know that all this talk about your hair growing longer if you cut it is bollocks. Cutting your hair make it shorter. Really.

Damn right, and conditioned with a head massage as well. Last one had a massive rack which is always good to look up at!

My girlfriend cuts mine, but she's not an actual hairdresser so it takes her a damn age to do, probably over two hours!

When I went to a hairdressers I wouldn't have liked to pay over 20 euros. The guy I went to charged me a tenner, which was a bargain really because the haircut has its complexities and he did a great job, apart from the final two times I went to him (which is how my girlfriend ended up doing it :p)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,397 ✭✭✭Evolute

I cut my own hair so its free but the last time I went to the hairdressers was over a year ago and it only costed 13 euro now that doesnt seem like a great saving but I had hair down to my arse and I'm 6ft1 now thats value for your money.

Use a Gillette Mach 3 Turbo myself and it costs me nothing. Pain in the ass cleaning the sink though.

    Low maintenance, that's me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,998 ✭✭✭extra-ordinary_

Was paying €15 for a 'haircut' (he used a scissors).

Anything more than €10 for a haircut using an electric razor I think is too much. I could do it myself only just not as neat a job.

i would get physically sick if i payed that for a hair cut, the book stops at €10

7 euro is the most I've spent..

What are ye at paying that sort of money?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,861 ✭✭✭RobbieTheRobber

€25 euro + tip which varies depending on the top the lady cutting my hair is wearing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,944 ✭✭✭Jay P

Usually around €15, which includes a €3 tip, cos I'm lovely. I get a quality hair cut for that though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,106 ✭✭✭dar83

€30 yesterday for a wash and haircut, but that included an €8 tip, just because it's Christmas and I'm a nice guy.

    :D

Ah lads ye moan about the price of a haircut...the most I've seen anywhere for a fella's haircut is 15 quid! Whereas a cut for a lady would cost DOUBLE that (maybe more)...for me, I go to the hairdressers about every 4 months, and I touch up the colour and the split ends cut...the cheapest being in Dublin for €115 and the dearest being €180 in galway

This pretty much. Dearest I think I ever paid was e15.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,148 ✭✭✭✭KnifeWRENCH

Most I've paid was 50, but that was for highlights. For a normal cut, I wouldn't pay anything over 15.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,367 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

Pay a tenner normally, don't think it's ever gone above 15

Chocoholic84, if you spend €180 on a haircut, you're an idiot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,659 ✭✭✭CrazyRabbit

Normally 10-12 euro in Rosso's in the Blanch Centre. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned, and I'd even pay a bit more for the service they provide.

I won't argue with that - first and last time! It was my own fault for not asking at the start how much it was gonna cost exactly - was just presuming it would be around the same as every other place I had it done....

    *hangs head in shame*

    None, I cut it myself.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 850 ✭✭✭Instant Karma

nothing. I invested in a shaver a few years ago and every few weeks its a number 2 all over handy as you like, must have saved a fortune by this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

Five euro is the most I'd pay for a haircut.

Bought a good razor about five years ago for €40 and have cut my hair easily 30 times in that period, saving myself a minimum of €110.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,015 ✭✭✭CreepingDeath

But as with everything in life. You get what you pay for.

I believe a lot of property owners who bought at the peak of the property boom would disagree.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,621 ✭✭✭Ferris_Bueller

Most I've ever paid was €38 I believe but that was for colour also, wouldn't fancy paying above €15 but my normal is €10. Prices are getting extremely low for a haircut lately I've noticed, competitive market.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,838 ✭✭✭✭3hn2givr7mx1sc

12euro for a normal haircut, 30euro if I'm getting bleach or something in it.

    1,000th post.:D And it's about my hair, which I'm told that I obsess over.:o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 417 ✭✭The Maverick
