Bradley needs to learn that dressing like the artful Dodger is not very cool. here is a chap with some style:

    Contador_Burke-480-90-480-70.jpg

Those colors really make that Pinarello look dead sexy though.

    Wiggo, oh dear.

Rapidly going off Pinarello. Frightfully common.

Paul Weller? The Clash more like. That bike is vomit.gif

But it makes no difference to anything. He's still going to win the TdF. :pac:

Objectively, yes, it's pretty hawt. But the association with Team Sky is putting me off. Every fred in the UK will be riding Pinarello, and quite a few here (not the Dogma, too pricey for most).

I quite like that colour scheme on the Dogma. you guy have no taste. 100x nicer than Lance's new Madone.

The dogma is not my cuppa cha, but I can see why others would like it. If I were given five words to describe my dream bike "wibbly" would not be among them, but it's the first word I think of when I look at that pinerello.

They haven't done it any favours with that paint-job though, the two-tone just looks flat and boring. If they'd taken the normal scheme and just replaced red with sky blue it would look better:

    98973.jpg

As for velvet jackets and pointy shoes, well, at least he doesn't have to wear argyle any more, but he still looks like a plonker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

Boring, what? Has anyone even heard of Nightwing?? That's what I think of when I see that bike. A superhero themed bike is cool, end of discussion.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,831 ✭✭✭ROK ON

Its an horrible bike and I am getting bored of wiggins.
I confidently predict that he will fall flat on his arse next season. Boasson Hagen couldwell be the star of the team in that he may actually win a race of two.

    Hence the "...but with Record".

I think the Dogma ships with Shimano as standard - it's on all the brochure shots.

But those beefy cranks do rather clash with the wavy forks.

(havent ridden road sram but i can hardly tell the defference between any of then tbh got over my campag/ italian bike fetish years ago (it wasnt the best experience but rode it for several years) in fact the old italian frame is going to be a turbo bike with shimano)

Hey, I'm not saying she's a minger - I'm a big fan - I was just saying I've seen people point out that there are good angles and there are bad angles. Much like the pinerello actually.

Makes sense to put an Asian-manufactured groupset on an Asian-manufactured frame surely :)

That's an outrageous slur. The most performance-critical component is engineered-on in Italy. The paint is what gives the bike that sublime combination of lateral stiffness and vertical compliance.

And don't tell me that those bodacious forks were conceived in straight-laced Asia. Mamma mia! Tu mi stanno uccidendo!

Yes indeed, the Dogma is phat. Oh no, make that fat.

    When weightweenies attack

    CompetitiveCyclist's spin on this is:

"NB on the weight: Pinarello's catalog indicates that the Dogma weighs 950g. This weight is before paint and "mechanization", i.e. installation of BB shell, bottle bosses, etc. Once mechanized, a 53cm Dogma weights 1210g"

That's 1210g without a fork, for the midget size.

Tour magazine weighed the frameset at 1848g.

Oh I don't know, what with the half paint jobs and specially strengthened frames that Dave Brailsford is on about I'm sure they are extra extra light, oh I forgot there's a minimum UCI weight limit. I really am sick to the teeth of the Sky Publicity machine, I logged onto twitter on Friday and I thought Bossan Hagen had won the Tour of Qatar not Cancellara..

Stick to Wiggins' twitter, it's much more entertaining.

Best moment of the day today was my soigneur Txema putting a heated towel on my nut sack for massage, bloody great!

    and poor Bradley staving himself...

It's stuff like this that makes me think the "Italian" bikes are to be avoided (no matter where they're made). Why would they expend money and effort on R&D when they've already got a nice chunk of the buying public convinced that their frames are imbued with "soul" or "heritage" or whatever? Nah, much easier to make it wibbly, outsource the manufacture to the lowest far-eastern bidder and spend a small percentage of the profits on ensuring proper media exposure. The dentists will be lining up.

    Alan Sugar.

I think Pinarellos are now a bit mainstream to be classic dentist bikes.

I saw a white painted Ti frame yesterday. With see-through bits for the logos. Apparently the customer was a regular, and not poor. Bizarre.

Nice kit shame about the flats though.

With all their dosh you'd think they could design some kind of lightweight/ aero/teardrop thingies for the photo shoots at least.
She'll never make it on to the Sky news team looking like that.

In fairness it stays looking the same ten years later though. I actually like the painted Litespeeds (they are only part painted, anyway) but wanted a more durable finish.

Aesthetics, same reason you would paint carbon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,220 ✭✭✭✭Lumen

    blorg wrote: »

Carbon is painted because is looks crappy underneath. Even the "raw" carbon fibre frames tend to be deliberately constructed with a cosmetic layer on top, so painting CF means you can just make what's underneath functional.

Ti looks great unpainted, so I just don't see the point. If you don't like the look of Ti, why not get steel instead?

Still, I'm not exactly the best person to be throwing stones towards eccentric framebuilding projects.
