Alternative to upright row?

    I really like this exercise but I hear it can be somewhat dangerous.

    Just wondering are there any safe alternatives?

    if you're not experiencing any discomfort then there's no reason not to do it, providing technique is solid.

    This comes pretty close to your concern's OP.

    Upright Rows are a great exercise for your shoulder's, and traps - probably one of the best mass builders, but in recent years (10-15 in my experience) its also an exercise which is associated with rotator cuff injuries.

    Again just speaking from personal experience I've often felt in the past that those issues came down to the user being too impatient with their progress, loading on the weight which in turn leads to poor forum..

    As is the case with most of the mass builders, slow and steady progress combined with proper form should lead to injury free mass.

    Alternatives would include lateral raises and shrugs.
