Well I only found out today, but just making sure everyone else knows. Paul Swift is the man behind the helmet... or at least the main guy, for stunt driving the stig becomes Terry Grant. So there you go, no Micheal Shoemaker or Tiff Needell etc. :)

Oh sorry, yea, I met 'em although i have to protect MY JOB so have to keep it kind of quiet where and when... but use logical deduction how I could have possibly met these people in the past few weeks and what my job could have entailed. Not really trying to convince anyone, just thought I'd share the knowledge. Paul is a really cool guy and does most the track times.

Well yes and no, he has made many appearances across Top Gear true but amongst his career as a race Driver his role has been mainly consultancy based on top gear with the odd appearance(face in view) but not as the stig.

Although in fairness, I wouldnt be surprised if they all took a shot at being the stig.

I'm the Stig's chubby Irish version. Me, driving 2 kids from one of Cork's Hospitals to see Santa last week. And pure pot luck, the 2 kids were the biggest top gear fans I'd ever seen. Didn't get to have much fun with them, the Gardaí escort wouldn't have taken kindly to some J turns I'd imagine :D

Try wikipedia for details of most of those who have at various times been speculated to be the Stig.

The Stig is Ben Collins and has been since the black Stig was killed off. It has been him all along. There is an easy way to prove it, the independent investigation into Richard Hammons big accident report states in several places that Top Gears 'expert' driver Ben Collins its on page 5!

I promised myself I wasnt going get sucked into an arguement... but your
arguement holds no value....

Visit by Ben Collins (BC) to PTLE
37. The preliminary arrangements for the event had been made at arm’s length, with the result that, as the date of the Elvington shoot approached, no-one from Top Gear had actually met PTLE’s principals or seen their jet cars. The jet car feature was considered to be sufficiently unusual and hazardous for GW to ask BC, who worked closely with Top Gear as a high performance driver and consultant, to go and see PTLE and Vampire, and to prepare a briefing for RH. It was felt that, with his extensive motor sport experience, he would be able to confirm PTLE’s competence and the quality of their equipment, and be able to see through them if they were not genuine. (This was a significant step because Top Gear had not used BC in this way before.)
38. BC visited PTLE’s premises near Northampton on Monday 18th June. He seems to have been convinced of their bona fides. He telephoned PD to confirm his conclusions and prepared a briefing paper that he e-mailed to GW. This described Vampire’s controls and tried to prepare Richard Hammond for the experience of driving the jet car.

Thats what you are reffering to I assume? Not to be pedantic or anything but it does say Ben Collins VISIT and Top Gear had not used Ben Collins in this way before.... the Stig officially tests all the supercars on Top Gear throughout the series.... all of Ben Collin's appearances are officially documented... nothing is proven in your link... Plus he cant be the Stig as much as the other candidates because of his schedule; it doesn't correspond with their recording times.... Sometimes he's on the other side of the world racing while also teaching the star in a reasonably priced car according to the BC crowd... he's a consultant... sometimes participates in aygo football or featurettes... thats it.

I'm done. Sorry for every raising the issue. Merely had a good source for the information and wanted to share. Next you'll tell me you believe in God too....

Guys seriously, car manufacturers send their own test drivers to do laps of the track. They just wear white racing overalls and a helmet.

If the Stig is revealed he gets fired.
