Things to love/hate about the premiership

Okay this to lighten things up a bit.

Things to hate about the premiership.
!. How like goalscorers run away from players who are trying to celebrate with them.
    2. Goalscorers claiming the credit for wicked deflections.
    3. Matt Holland's new look (pencil thin moustaches went out in the fifities matt)
    4. Defenders who dont get the basic things right like picking up their markers.
    5. How rte presenters always slip in silly sarcastic jokes on the Premiership.
    6. How Cunningham always feels the need to make eye contact with Whelan
    7. How Whelan looks impassively in to space as Cunningham tries to make compact.
    8. Diving
    9. Fans showing off their five bellies on the coldest days of the year (god I miss newcastle)
    10. Teams who give their fans an unrealistic sense of belief and how fans of series teams have to put it up with it till March when the cream inevitably rises to the top

Things to love about the Premiership.
    1. Moments like the balloon gate affair.
    2. Andy Reid's current form.
    3. Torres and the way he heads the ball.
    4. Gerrard's thirty yard screamers.

The art of defending a lead is often criticised. I love it.

Also, if you've got a long throw in then use it. Maybe we should hate players with good long shots as well.

Cant understand people hating Sky Sports. They do by far the most professional and comprehensive coverage of matches.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

    Hate

"Sky Sport Generation" types who couldn't tell you who Brian Clough was until the film came out.
    Agents
Ex-players who have no great insight but who are given creedence as sages cos they are on the telly.
    Wages (see agents)
Managers who refuse to stop talking gibberish when they loose.
    WAGS and Bling (see wages)
Diving, feigning injury, sneaky OTT elbows and kicks

    Love

    Wholesome defending in depth
A devastating counter attacking, from goalmouth to goalmouth ending with a goal in 30 seconds
Sweet volleys that make the keeper look stupid
Managers who know their onions but are modest with it.

    Hate:

The palaver. Average games tarted up with one hundred and twenty six cameras.

The promotion of football as primarily a TV-based activity.

The money: Wags, average players on a fortune thinking they're the business and lower-income families being priced out of the games.

The desperate unfairness: the dwindling chance that the majority of clubs - excepting a takeover by Arab tycoons or despots - will ever have a sniff of success. The near-death of the romantic idea that a smaller club would be able to fashion together a team with canny buys and youth (and keep it together long enough) to win the league.

The diving, gamesmanship and other girly stuff you see every weekend.

    Loves

Football generally: for all the bad, it's still there and that is good enough in itself.

This **** tilts the fook outta me. Hallmark of idiots everywhere.

The way they build it up is precisely what watching football should be all about. Excitement, rivalry, competition, entertainment.

You're showing serious disrespect to the two teams featured as well.

    Another thing while I'm here.

This "I hate the Sky Sports Generation" bull**** people come out with. You might as well say, "I hate the youth of today for being young". Its bloody ridiculous.

Sky do a great job with their coverage of football - thats true. What annoys people is the over-hype of a meaningless match between 2 mid-table teams from wherever. Sky would advertise it as if its a WC Final while in general people wouldnt give a flying fcuk about it and this is from all the Leagues in England not just the PL. The worst thing about Sky is there is never a bad game or even an average game. You could be watching the most boring 0-0 of all time and the Sky analysis would be saying its a fascinating game. Then you have to listen Jamie "never criticise anyone" Redknapp at half-time saying how wonderful the English game is and how it is the best League in the World. People are not idiots - we know if its a crap game or not so why not just say it like on other channels.

The ones that buy into this crap are the idiots.
