Live Boardsie Mixed Game Anyone?

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in playing some live 8-game for small stakes some time before Christmas? I'm pretty sure Voodoo or somewhere would be happy to run it if we asked nicely. I've started to play all of the games recently and its nice to get away from NLHE and try something different. Maybe 6 or 8 hands of each in rotation.
I was thinking something like 2/5 for the limit games and .50/1 for the PL and NL games. This would lead to a max loss of about 25 euro in a decent sized limit pot and buying in for 50-100 overall would be plenty.

For those who don't know the games are:

    2-7 Triple Draw
    Limit Holdem
    Limit Omaha Hi/Lo
    Limit Razz
    Limit Stud
    Limit Stud
    Limit Stud Hi/Lo
    No Limit Holdem
    Pot Limit Omaha

We could maybe even take out one or two of the games is people don't like them. Have to leave 2-7 in though...its great :) It might be a nice opportunity to put a face to a few screen names.

This, but replace 3 with all. Would be a good laugh though. Not sure how much time I'll have this side of the new year though.

EDIT - wasn't there talk of trying to get a weekly 50 euro HORSE freezeout going at some stage?

Cool to see a few people interested. We'll let it go for a bit and then try and sort a date.

There is no way 100 would be enough for this game. You'd need 400-500 if you're incl NLH and PLO. 2-5 for limit is on the big side aswel.

Seeing as you have limit stud in twice, i'd replace one with PL omaha hi/lo and just drop limit holdem altogether. Its a horrible horrible game. I'd play if its a week night. Wont be around the weekends.

All things being equal I'd try to make it.
Stick to the stars 8 game format IMO
It will be hard to please everyone with the limits err on the smaler side and you will be more likely to get a crowd..or better still make it a tourney.

nl and pl are 1/1. 100bb is plenty for the game, and as they make up only 1/4 of the rotation its not the end of the world if you only buy in for 50bb. You'd be doing well to lose more than 5-7 big bets in a limit hand often.

So you just want to play HA then? You can gtfo! If you give them a chance they're all very good games.

I wouldn't play if it was a tourney style thing. Limit tourneys are deathly boring.

I definitely wouldn't take out LHE. Its probably my favourite of those games, and its the one the limit game that most people are familiar with, so I'd keep it just because its the game that will let people get into the limit swing of things the quickest.

If you want a roe moneymaker, then there are loadsa games of this spread in town already. Its fun to learn new games anyway imo.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,163 ✭✭✭Slash/ED

What does HA stand for, incidentally. It's just another name for ROE, right?

I'd play this game but I think you're forgetting that not a lot of dealers will know how to deal some of these games.

No, Voodoo have dealt mixed games before. There used to be something like this every Weds night, that didnt work out but would be nice to give it another shot.

    I'm in anyhow.

Agree, this would be much better as a cash game than tournament, 2/5 Limit is 1/2 blinds, €5 on turn/river in LHE/08, say in stud games €2 dealer ante and bets of 2 on 3rd/4th and €5 on 5th-7th so small enough game would likely be fine with €100.

I'm unlikely to make it if this side of christmas though so feel free to ignore me!

OK. How is next Thursday or Friday for people?

btw HiCloy, I was thinking of 50c antes and a 1 euro bring in. A single dealer ante makes the correct strategy much too tight for a one off friendly game.

I meant with a €1 bring in as well. Well as long as no-one abuses it it's the same thing, say have a €5 dealer ante if you want a looser game, it's just easier to collect than 50c antes per person

Sorry I'm in Belgium until Wednesday night so I won't be able to do much about organising it. Feel free to take the reigns, I can play anytime! (after Wed)

I sent Voodoo an email but didnt get an answer. I'll try phoning them tonight instead. How are people fixed over the Christmas? Something like Sunday the 27th?

Onto the guys in Voodoo sorting it out. We'll be playing at 9pm on a date to be confirmed, and they have some interested players aswell. They're suggesting 100euro min but I'd prefer 50 to start. It would be pretty annoying to show up and get coolered in the PLO or NLHE at the start and have to dig deep again as it's just for a bit of fun really.

    Cliff notes: I'm busto.

OK Lads this is going ahead tonight in Voodoo. Hope to see as many of ye there as possible. Sorry for the short notice!! Can you reply here if you're planning on playing....

whats the buyin amount levels etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Its not set in stone (lol). I think 50 will be min and the limit games will be 2/5 small/big bets and the PL will be .50/1 sb/bb.

The game's underway with a starting lineup of 5 players. There are a couple more who got involved in the WSOP freeroll tournament while waiting. It's a €50 min sit down game. The limits are 2/5 and blinds are 1/2.

Just home from it now. AAxx ds no good in Omaha apparently.

Excellent fun, will definitely play this again. Good line up too, made for a fun night. Bubbleking is teh value in Razz but I suck at NLHE.
