What tech did you buy?

Ok lads. The idea is simple, got this idea from a good buddy on another forum, which is proving a great success! And an awesome thread!

All you do is post a picture of the tech you bought, you don't need to post your current things unless you actually bought them now ;)

For posting rig pictures and specs, use this thread.

Audio equipment and games are also good to post! I'll start off now in a min when my pics upload to Photobucket. When uploading keep the pics within window size so no one has to scroll :)

Please keep Pic sizes to 800x600.

I had to LOL when I saw your pics!

Best just to say max size of 800x600 or something.

Your pics will have a lot of people scrolling! (1351px × 1013px, 884kb)

Will post some of my own later :)

Lulz, maybe you're right! My default on PB puts them at a large size. But no scrolling sideways so it's ok :)

That's because you're running a 1080p screen! Anyone who doesn't will be swimming the horizontally-scrolling seas of scrollbar fail!

Couldn't justify the price of a HTPC with all the bells and whistles (to the missus :D) so by way of a compromise one of these on the way in the next few days.

What ever you do do not update the firmware on it. Similar issues with the WD ones, it will basicially brick it. Hopefully asus have fixed it at this point though.

My old G7 died and it was out of warranty so Logitech offered me 50% off the purchase of another mouse. Theres no way I would of paid 90euro for a mouse but 45 wasnt so bad! The performance mx has good reviews but I'm not mad on it, its quite heavy and doesnt feel as responsive as my G7. Hopefully I'll get used to it over time

Looks awesome! The Noctua is a great cooler!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 680 ✭✭✭Leman_Russ

Heh, I have that exact same Mobo/CPU/PSU config :D

While I am not a fan of Noctura, it should allow you to get acceptable temps for a 200*20 Overclock ;) Just remember to update the BIOS for the UD3 as soon as you can, Gigabyte update them regularly :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 319 ✭✭fran426ft

Thanks I'll have to check for BIOS updates after I put it all together. It'll be my first build so getting it up and running will be my first priority.:o

OCing will be something I'll look into once I get over that first hurdle. I did see you had a post last month that might give me some guidance for a start since our builds have common MOB and CPU http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=62949137&postcount=3

If I may derail this thread for a second.

    [Thread Hijack]

I did a bit of research and the 1.13 version is what bricks the box so ASUS have now erased all traces of its existance, have updated it with a later 1.17 version and all went swimmingly. Just as well because the out of the box firmware is buggy as f*ck.

Nice unit, has played everything I have thrown at it thus far.

Now back to posting pretty gadget pictures everybody. :pac:

It's a great looking case. Bit too big and expensive for my build.

I think if I post pictures of my purchases, which will be delivered during the week, they'd just be laughed at as they are nothing compared to some of the builds I've seen here :(

Got them on Ebay actually(€123 delivered). Delivery was insanely fast. I was originally gonna get them on scan.co.uk but they weren't gonna be in stock for a while.

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/M-Audio-Studiophile-AV40-%28Pair%29-Professional-Reference-Speaker-System

After using them for a few weeks now, I gotta say they're worth alot more than the price they are. I recommend them 100%

Post them anyway tbh, I'm gonna be posting a pic of a flexi keyboard in a few days lol. Also, there's a 700D coming out soon enough, maybe you should check it out sometime too.

Seriously....is there anything better then all the goodies sitting there waiting to be built. Its like that christmas morning feeling from when we were "Little Uns"....

I got a replacement MSI 5970 today...and the Corsair H50 also to try. I doubt it will be as good as my TuniQ 120 setup but I will take a hit for the space and noise level dropping.

Great rig mate....let me know how you mount the H50 (top or bottom of case) and the temps.

I always wanted one of the 480's since it came out, but the problems the reference one had is what stopped me from getting one. The cooler on this one is great and should keep heat problems away! It set me back €440 delivered from Scan.co.uk, brilliant service from them as always.

Had a few games of BC2 with everything on max, it's nice not to hear my GPU spin up cause it's struggling. It's a great card. I normally am a Middle end card buyer, 5850/460 type of guy. But I said **** it, may treat myself to something different.

Don't have pics of anything bought recently, but I do have plans!

I plan to get a 1055t and a Noctua NH-D14, or maybe a new MoBo and a Bulldozer processor when I see how they perform and the price of them.
Will post again (with pics!) when I buy either 2.

Not stickied but I've edited the FAQ again to add links and tags to help you find your way back here ;) Hoping to get some traffic here as we approach Chrimbo so don't be a stranger and give us tech pr0n pics to feast upon! ;):D

As for me? Well, eBuyer has already vomited forth my new monitor, OS and DVD drive but alas, they're all a bit useless until HWVS sends me the guts of my new machine :o Expect some shiny pics once I finally get my hands on them though! ;):D

Very impressed with the upgrade tho. Battlefield Bad Company 2 runs so smooth, even with settings maxed out. :)

Why get the 768MB GTX 460? Especially if you have 2 22 inches?

    And why the CYBORG RAT7?

Nice, in terms of comfort what's that mouse like?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 230 ✭✭sentenel

    @ Venom
The 460 is only a stop gap till Jan when I'll upgrade my motherboard, cpu and get another 460 for my gaming rig and my present stuff will go into my general rig (if finances are ok) The second monitor is my mate's who leaves a gaming setup here when he's not here it sits alongside my monitor :D. He comes over from the UK 4/5 times a year for a week and we game and play with R/C cars (when the wives let us).
I was looking for a while for a new mouse and as I'm a sucker for a gadget ;-) I like the option to adjust all areas of movement and tweek the dpi also I think it looks great.....
    @Grim Reaper
The Mouse is super comfortable, everything is adjustable. I would have liked a wireless one but they seem to be super expensive :(

Yay! :D My stuff didn't make it in time for my birthday, but at least I should be up and running for the Foldathon! :D

Be warned - I "only" own a 5megapixel camera. Or "a ****ty blurry shaky double-exposing PoS camera" as I call it :pac:

Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish BLUR!

    sh1ttyparts.jpg

Seeing as you don't have a chance of deciphering any of that:

    Intel i5-760
    Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3
    Corsair XMS3 1600MHz DDR3 - 2x2GB
Powercolor HD6850 (the weight of the cooler! )
Sony Optiarc slimline slot-load DVD burner
Samsung F3 1TB (had this for a month or two now, but it was always meant for this build)
    2x Arctic F12 high-performance 120mm case fans
BenQ G2220HD 22" Full HD monitor
    Windows 7 Home Premium (OEM)

    Out of shot:

Gigabyte ODIN 550W PSU (had this for a couple of years now)

But the drive I got there isn't SATA - its MicroSATA. So now I can't install Win7.
