Lowry just missed a 5ft putt for Birdie, now at -6 could have been -9, he's missed 3 very good birdie chances. Striking his irons beautifully
Edit: he's just dunked it in the water at the par 3 7th! I should have said nowt

Good fight back by Gary Murphy, back to -1 on 18 after three birdies on the back nine. Double bogey at 9.

Gareth Maybin has previous in this one doesn't he? Might be worth a punt as he's yet to tee off.

David Hewan started with a double, bogeyed his 3rd, then went eagle, birdie, albatross!
6 under for 3 holes.. mad stuff!

I think Damien McGrane’s favourite hole on the course is the 18th, second day in a row he’s eagled it, must be a lovely feeling walking in having eagled the last

McGrane -2 for the day -7 overall T8
Maybin -2 for the day -6 overall T13
Lowry -1 for the day -6 overall T13
Hoey -2 T48 – Will make the cut
Murphy +5 No chance of making the cut

  • Subscribers Posts: 4,419 ✭✭✭PhilipMarlowe

In_tuition tipped David Dixon who is -5 for the day thru 17.
Even though he bogeyed the par 5 15th, he's up to t8

Bogey 6 on the last. I guess I'll never learn...

Gary Murphy finished +3 in round 1, which is currently tied for 39th. Thought that was a poor round until i saw his score card which shows that he took a 10 (yes, 10) on the par 5 13th, which i think was his 4th hole.

McGrane currently -3 thru 14 holes and is tied for 7th.

    Leader is on -8.

Lowry and the future king of Scotland out later on.

    Lowry +2 after 1 hole :(

 It's a tough hole but not that tough! Must have hit driver off the tee, which is not really the shot IMO

Some found it even tougher than Murphy. Tyrone Mordt had an 11 on the same hole!!

Fair dues to Lowry the guy is -4 after 12 holes (no drop shots) at T83, I’d say he still needs to make another two shots to make the cut, great effort so far.

In three holes yesterday he was 7 over, two doubles and a triple, so difficult to come back from that.

  • Subscribers Posts: 4,419 ✭✭✭PhilipMarlowe

Quick mention of Coltart before he finishes his round, 2 birdies and a double 7 going out, 3 birdies and an eagle coming in.
    -5 thru 17 today, -3 overall and t15

Cracking back nine from him. Just a few mistakes on both days have really cost him, otherwise he'd be up the top challenging. Still, reasonably placed for the weekend and another couple of 67s would certainly give him a decent cheque.

He probably was before the two of you started talking about him, poor chap has it all to do now!

Lowry finishes -4 for the day and +2 overall all, T87, one shot away from making the projected cut, gutted!

I admit to having my Vincent Price laugh on youtube link ready to post after Coltart tripled the last but alas, it wasn't to be..... this time

Scoundrel... nice calm start from Murphy, 4 pars in 4 holes. Cut currently still +1, but if he can get to level i'd say he'll be Vincent Price-ing it.

  • Subscribers Posts: 4,419 ✭✭✭PhilipMarlowe

Huh? A birdie after being mentioned in your thinly veiled support? Hope he makes the cut. Every cheque will be important if the dream ryder cup pairing is to be kept alive :)

Bogey on 16 but a champagne birdie birdie finish for a 69 to make the cut on even par for Gary, t58
Considering the 10 he had yesterday on his 4th hole, it's been a fine performance since... without that madness he'd be well up there.
Hopefully get to take him on for a fiver in Mount Juliet over Christmas... (feck off frost).

Yeah good finish by Gary birdies on 17 & 18. I know its all ifs and buts... but if he had par on "that" hole he would be T10

Sorry Licksy I’m sure you spoke about it before on here, I take it your mates with Gary?

After round 3,McGrane on -4 and Murphy on -1, Martin leading on -11.

  • Subscribers Posts: 4,419 ✭✭✭PhilipMarlowe

Shaky start for Hoey with bogeys on the first 2 holes but birdied 4 & 5, level thru 7 and still -6 overall, t14.
    Murphy shot a level par 72, doubled the par 5 13th today... better than a 10 I guess :)

Ryan Dreyer, a South African amateur made the cut after shooting 73, 72. Followed it up with a 76 on Saturday and then today had 9 pars, 4 bogeys, 4 doubles and 1 triple bogey for an 87. I wonder if there was a session last night... 5 pros also shot in the 80's and I more is +7 thru 16 today :D

some round by richie ramsay today, maybe he'll become the new scot hex for the board! lets test that then - looks like its heading for a playoff and with his form all day he would be favourite to win :p

Great win for Ramsay, that was some 3 wood in the playoff. I'm sure he'll thank Sifter and Licksy for not mentioning his name here!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,798 ✭✭✭Mister Sifter

I'll need to Sky Plus the golf more often i think! Even i can't change the past. I wouldn't put anything past Licksy though.

Delighted for Ramsay. Brilliant final round, and that 3-wood on the playoff hole was stunning. He showed glimpses that he was ready to win earlier this year, but could never see it through.

He gets a bit of bad press, but by all accounts he's a good lad. Undoubtedly a cracking talent.

On the back of Martin Laird's win a few weeks back, finally some cheer for Scottish golf! It's been a long time coming...

2 courses in play here this week...
Schwartzel had 7 birdies in a row from the 5th to the 11th... then doubled the 12th (birdied the 13th). Wonder if thats a e.t. record?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,987 ✭✭✭Trampas

Schwartzel and Clarke in same 3ball

Jacquelin the final person is letting the lads down only been 5 under.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,987 ✭✭✭Trampas

Leaders on -11. Clarke on -1 for the day -9 overall thru 6 holes.

Darren chips in at the final hole at J'burg to tie 2nd.........well done big lad.

Hopefully this will kick start his year and he shows some of his old form and makes it onto Montie's team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,987 ✭✭✭Trampas

    Great result for Clarke.

Lets hope he can build on this.

I see tough times for Murphy this year as he will be struggling to get on the tee time until India.
