The Snowman...friend? Or pervert?

Does anyone else think The Snowman (famous short movie, used in the An Post ads if anyone's unsure) was a bit of a paedophile? He comes into a small boy's bedroom in the dead of night, takes him away from the safety of his home, brings him to a party with others of his kind, bribes him with gifts to keep him sweet, and at one point experiments with cross-dressing. I, for one, was glad when the perv died.

The scary soundtrack didn't help either :(

Apologies if I've ruined anyone's fond Christmas memories, but sometimes these things have to be said :o

    Ahh ..the loss of innocence

Doesn't this belong in the ' how do we know there is no santa ' thread '?

Would you believe that I've just downloaded that film and was going to watch it right now?

You've just raped my attempts at nostalgia.

<---Now has an ugly image of alternative use for the snowman's nose-carrot in his mind.

No thanks to you Mr jokettle

    And how about Santa?

    Sneaking around down peoples chimneys,
Children sitting on his lap all the time,
    Obviously has a sock fetish,
All of the children names on a list,
Maybe a carrot fetish as well now that I think of it,
He knows when you are sleeping

I think it's his beard that makes him look sketchy

No, it was a kids film.

He was a snowman, not a paedophile

Ah the Snowman, that takes me back. I remember this boy in my class, I think when i was in senior infants, used to insist we all watch The Snowman every single time we watched a video.

I really didn't mean to snatch away anyone's innocence or nostalgia, but if anyone has ever watched Roald Dahl's BFG made into a cartoon-the one with David Jason as the BFG-you'd understand why I've become bitter and cynical towards these appareantly guileless children's films. I still get the nightmares...

in all fairness, the bfg was terrifying! the book was magical, the film was disturbing :( the snowman rules though, i cry every time at the end! jokettle ur a tad cynical i think, maybe u should eat some snowman cupcakes and get into the festive spirit :D

I find that film extremely cruel - the ending! :(

The Snowman looks a bit seedy alright.

Not as bad as Bungle. That bear was a serious pedo. Pedo-bear.

I just feel bad when they die a horrible slow, melting and painful death... eventually.

In my experience all snowmen are pedophiles and I don't care if that's racist. I've yet to meet a snowman who hasn't at least tried to cop a feel. Dirty things.

Not when they deserve it. Frankly, more paedos should be melted to death.

    Yeah :o

I still have emotional scars from the ending of that film.

    I know, it's horrible. :(
Why couldn't the kid have died? That would have been a much less sad ending....

It's still one of my favourite Christmas things ever though.

I love The Snowman too. Haven't seen it in years though as it always clashes with the Queen's speech - have to keep my priorities straight... :(

A sad ending if you believe he was just a snowman.

A happy ending if you believe he was a pdf file.

Just on the topic of the man himself, The Snowman is playing in the National concert hall over the crimbo, not sure if its a play or the music from it.

What if they started pissing on the Snowman. How would you feel then?

I could never get beyond the first five minutes and the overpowering urge to strangle Aled Jones. So, they snowman melts, yeah? Sucks to be him.

THE PEOPLE DOWN BELOW ARE SLEEPING AS WE FLY.

Both the snowman and the kid are stoned out of their gourds.

Why the fup would anyone buy a DVD of something that gets shown at multiple scheduled times across various channels on an annual basis ?

Surely you know how to press the record button
