When I woke up one Christmas night and heard him sipping tea in the kitchen after laying out all the pressies. Except the "him" was my older brother. :(

I was in 3rd class and one of my friends told me that she had found all her santa presents in her house before christmas. I went home and confronted my mum and it all came out about santa, the tooth fairy and the easter bunny :(

Going by your location you might want to tell the pope who you met at the Barbecue

No, that's when the easter bunny has a BBQ

If you think the Easter bunny or Santa are fake then they obviously don't like you and you don't get invited to their parties

I was aged 7, it was the 27th December

    Me: "This Gameboy's rubbish"
Mom: "Don't say that Tom, it cost a lot of money"
Me: "Well you didn't buy it, Santa made it!!"
    Mom: "HE'S NOT REALLLLLLLL
    Me: /crying

    i thought about it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,748 ✭✭✭Cunny-Funt

I thought about it logically one day (helped that it was summer and miles away from that 'magical' Christmas time) and realised how messed up the concept was and started thinking about the implications of there being such a magical being that did all that stuff.

It all started to seem really fecked up so I just bluntly asked my dad about it then and he told me the truth.

    I was 28.

hehe nah I was 9 years old. I remember cause I've a little sister and keeping up the act meant I could still get presents each Christmas from "Santa" on top of the ones from my parents. Muhahahhahaa.

If only more people thought about religion logically one day. Although I can't help but wonder if those at the top are a bit like me when I was 9, keeping up the act to reap the rewards. hmmmm....

    Aw, that's nasty!

I was 6. Older cousin was trying to make me cry:

-Cousin: You know Santa's not real!
-Me: Will I still get presents?
--Idiot drops the ball right here--
-Cousin: Uh, yeah, from your parents.
-Me: Ok then. (Toddle off to play)

My Mum went and ratted to me. I was actually vacillating before that and would have probably got another year out of it as well.

I didn't exactly find my presents, one Christmas eve I found the wrapping paper that my presents miraculously appeared in the next day.

I never told my parents as it was obvious they got such pleasure out of wrapping them and waiting for my reaction.

It wasn't the same after that though.

    So true.

I can't remember how I found out...I think I just figured it out.

When I was in third or fourth class, I was insistant he was real because there was no way my parents could afford all the presents.
I think that was around this time, or after that, that I found the receipt for one of my presents, so I told my friend, who told his brother who told his mother who told my mother who told me I was being nosy, and that Santa was real. And that the receipt was for presents bought for one of my Dad's friend. How gullible I was :)

I just realised that is it impossible for a man do what he's meant to do, about 9 or 10.

Even now my parents still say Santas coming haha.

Ha, I did that as well, my parents are really soft and couldn't bear to tell me the truth, so while I figured it out naturally when I was around 9, they thought I still believed it when I was around 13 :D

    Extra pressies FTW :D

    How'd that work?

Parents bought presents and stuck them under the tree, which I'm guessing is the same as happened for everyone else?

Yes - and then said they were from Santa.
    But you implied they didn't.
    So, how'd that work?

Was never said that the presents were from santa, they were always from whoever it was that had gone down the shops and bought them.

Quite late - girl in my class told me when I was 10. But then I was in denial for a few months ("of course Santa doesn't come to her - she doesn't believe in him") but by that Christmas I underwent a conversion - to not believe in Santa was "cool" and grown-up so I was quite happy to be filled in on the truth.
