he picked up a $200,000 ferrari california.....

that said he did make $1.5m in the last six weeks - so to be honest, he's perfectly entitled to spend the money any way he wants! He played well, won a big tournament and came close in a number of other events.

sure didnt mcilroy swap his ferrari for a lambourghini only last week! He'd only had the ferrari about 6 months......

i think its important that we check in on ian every now and again
he is a major trend setter in golf and could be the man to fill the tiger marketing void in 2010

i've gone on record here before to say that when tiger loses the number 1 spot it'll be to poulter or anthony kim
many would say big phil is next, but thats an obvious choice and hes simply not consistent enough, never will be
kim and poulter have the necessary raw material to win big over the course of the next 2 years

Ya except Poulter is not good enough to fill this void now is he? and the fact that most of the world think that he is an utter c*ck will also go against against I would think, it does not make him very marketable now does it?... Hogwash conno, hogwash

While Poulter is consistant I think Westwood is the best player in the world at the moment and most likely to take Woods crown but I dont think it will come to that. Woods isnt ready to lie down yet im sure (excuse the pun). As for Anthony Kim, id put him in the same bracket as Sergio Garcia. Ungrateful spoilt brats and I hope neither of them ever win a major.

Absolute rubbish. Poulter is a good player, but that’s it.

McIlroy has been on tour 2 years and is already a better player than Ian could even dream of.
What is it about Poulter that leads you to believe he is a) more consistent than Mickleson or b) equipped with the tools to consistently challenge for majors like Phil has?

Agh Conno I have to say firstly I apologise for my negative feedback to your posts in the pasts. How narrow minded of me to ever doubt a man of your intellegence and wealth of knowledge.

I also must agree that the no 2 in the world of golf right now just isnt consistant enough, I mean he must have fluked his way to that spot and by the luck of god managed to stay there for so long !! Its truely encouraging to see that a normal golfer like Mickelson who has absolutley no skills, talent or dedication can so such a thing, leaves us mere normal folk living in hope that we too can strike it lucky and reach the heights of this easy game !!

I must commend you also in saying that since your little time off period you have came back with a bang and have really pulled up your socks. I mean your input onto this forum has dramatically improved and the quality of your post are astonishing...Hail Conno

And here was me thinking you were just an immature kid..how wrong I was

I think Poulter will get top spot next year and Kim well he will just have to fluke his way into 2nd and accept it.

Cant wait for your next contribution...oh wise one

Have you ever seen poulter up close hitting shots??? I doubt it.....hes without doubt the worst ball striker ive ever seen at that level!! Dont get me wrong hes a fantastic player thanks to his brilliance around the greens, but hel never even make world top 10 unless he improves his ball striking.

sure I have been unable to sleep since them dark negative days, My concience has been at me ever since and now it feels like I have been cleansed of all negativity towards this masterful being. I was simply in denial and envious of this mans wealth of knowledge, Intelligence and above all else his communication skills amongst his huge fan club on this site ha ha

thats ridiculous gorfield, he has a sweet swing and hits the soft spot 99% of the time
poulters main problem is his concentration IMO
if he could block out distractions for the 4.5 hours golf time and become robotic like woods then he'd already have a handful of majors IMO

sorry, to answer your original question - yes i have seen him play.
in fact i followed him round for most of the ryder cup, got his autograph and a photo
and he didn't come across as a c**k anytime during the weekend
altho he was out to prove his inclusion that time round

I read once that a bowl of beef stew at the turn is good for combating dropping concentration levels. Of course i could be talking absolute bollox.

Poulter isn't consistent enough imo to be ever world number one. He's liable to miss a cut now and again be out of golf tournaments after the first day. He has the confidence though and i wouldn't back aginst him winning a major in the future. He is definitely capable.

99% is not good enough at that level!! I hit it pure 99% of the time how come im not a multiple major winner!! Maybe its my concentration too.....
I might try the beef stew thing next year!!

Hmm, does that other 1% constitute shanks, because he has more than any other tour player I've ever seen. Actually, he has more than any good amateur I've ever seen either for that matter!

oh we're using google now for our "scientific" research

f22 had the impudence, most recently, when referring to some of my comments as 'Amazing the power of google, and your abilty to rub people up the wrong way!'

Yet it now seems he bases his golfing knowledge on his own theory.

And by the way I do not use google to find out information about the professional world of golf. (nor do I use any other search engine)

No doubt, once again, that some of the responses made to the original poster on this thread come from people who seem to 'own' the forum and it's there way or the highway.

This thread is starting to appear similar to one recently where I was bombarded by 'the locals'

oh I forgot that was because I was 'rubbing people up the wrong way' I suppose conno16 is too and all the other posters who wish they could post a message but don't due to the large contingent of perceived hierarchy who think they can have such a dominating influence over others who have a different perspective.

Time to get the hoover out and wipe up all the dust around the place..

If you want to be pedantic about it the "google search" was simply to find the video piece Gorfield referenced (2nd shot on the 16th hole recently, Mission Hills?) if my memory serves me correctly. The results are what I referenced, no particular item, of which there are plenty.

While I admire the fact you are sticking up for a fellow poster, the fact is he claimed Poulter to be a great ball striker and referenced the fact that 99% of his shots are pure. I referenced the fact that he has more shanks than any other tour pro I've seen. My opinion on this (and probably many other points) differs from Conno's aswell as others so just because I air my opinion doesn't dictate that I, or anybody else is being all high and mighty.

Fair enough, why didn't you reference that then?

The fact is that Conno has been banned for trolling on more than one occasion and warned on several, blatantly posting stuff with no other purpose than to get a reaction. I guess he's managed that again with a little help.
