Advice needed (again)

It's been a while since I've been on here but I need your advice again!

So around 4 or 5 months ago, I came on here looking for diet advice, I got a good bit of help and ended up with a personal trainer who gave me a good routine for the gym which consisted of sets of:

    Squats
    Chest Press
    Lat Pulldown
    Lunges
    Dumbbell Shoulder Press
    Side Shoulder Raise
    Hamstring Curls
    Single Arm Dumbbell Row
    Triceps Pushdown
    Biceps Curls
    Abdominal Crunches

I used to do this routine three times in the gym.

Done this and the biggest part of my change was the diet, ate really healthily for a good few weeks, including not skipping any meals, having a well balanced diet and I started to see improvements.

    But then..

I fell off the wagon, went on holidays, came back and went to the gym.. another think to factor in is the overcrowding in the gym I go to, doing the routine above, I'd have to weight on the free weights and it just got all a bit too frustrating, all to the point where now, the thoughts of going to the gym just make me not want to go.

So basically, what I need your guys help with is:

    1. What exercise can you recommend I do at home/away from the gym that will help me lose weight? I have free weights at home I could use. But I just seriously do not want to go back to the gym and now being in a new job, it'll be difficult to get down to my local gym anyway.

    2. Any other tips on losing weight? I'm currently 17 stone, 5'7. I was 17.4 stone before I joined the gym and then I went down to 16.4 (ok I lost a stone for all my effort - but thats not bad .. is it?) but now i'm back up to 17 stnone :(

Any help/tips/motivational tricks are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance :)

If you have a decent weights set at home with a dumbell, barbel - i would get a bench. Focus on compound movements like squatting, deadlifts, benching with a bit of isolation.

    exrx.net has video tutorials.

It might be no harm to use a site like fitday.com or caloriecount.com to track your food too.

Thanks for the help UL, would you recommend that I picked up a bit of cardio too or would weights be the best way to lose weight? I want to go down the most optimum route (I don't really mean the fastest route, but like, the best way to spend my time sort of thing)

Also, can you guys help critique my diet?

    My intentions are:

    Breakfast:
    - Porridge
    - Banana
    - actimil type drink

    Snack:
    - Nuts

    Lunch:
    - Sandwich (salmon/ham/cheese on brownbread)
    - Fruit (sometimes)

    Snack:
    - Nuts

    Dinner:
    - Rice with chicken/fish/beef and some veg

Also, I don't really drink tea/coffee, normally just drink water.

I know some people will say rice is bad but would a small bowl of it do any harm? or is there some type of replacement rice I could use? (I'm asian, so dinner is usually rice + something else.)

Also, is there any supplements or vitamins that I should be taking to help?

Any more help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Pull-up bar from Argos mounted half way up a doorframe. For supine rows.

Push-ups, dips done between the kitchen chairs.

    And this yoke for squats..........

Gotta make one of these myself. And walking, I started to walk alot and it shows now.

Don't think I'd be able for the pull ups or the squats with that yoke.

I am walking a bit more due to the job, but right now, I'm just getting my diet in a row.

Just a quick question, if I just ate fruit, say 2 bananas in the morning, would this be as good as say, a bowl of porridge? Or would it be unhealthy to just eat fruit?

Any other advice or help greatly appreciated.

Fruits are high in sugar, porrigde has more carbs. Could add a little ground cinamon to take that porridgy taste off of it.
Audio books tend to make walking easier. Check this place out for them for free if you have an mp3 player. http://www.audiobooks.org/
