Shane was fairly letting the hair down in Cassidy's after the Mayo Dublin match. Dancing on tables the mad yoke.

No doubt it'll be the future reason for his next slump for some.
I think it's great to see a pro combining a good attitude towards life and golf.

    Plenty of videos online.

Fully agree.. was gonna post the video up here yesterday but thought it might add fuel to some fires.:D

Fair play to him... great to celebrate such a big win and let the hair down a bit before getting back to the grind!

Any idea of Shanes playing schedule? Any idea if he is playing the Portugal Masters in October?

Nothing worse than seeing a pro shop owner dancing on tables:pac:

The partying lifestyle will be the reason for his next slump and the healthy work/life balance will be the reason for his next win.

Playing good or bad golf and a bit of luck will be the secret reason though.

Just re-read his last article in the Times and he said he'd be back for the Dunhill Links which starts October 1st.

He had a week off and the intention was to get back to work with the fitness coach and his golf coach until he gets back playing.

That ties in with the previous statement that he would be taking six weeks off. Still seems strange to me, but I guess the proof of the pudding will be how he plays on his return.

Don't agree with this at all. There is nothing to play for in Europe at the moment as no big tournament will clash with the Fed-ex series. He is not qualified for that so he is a bit in limbo.

Better to have a break now and be refreshed for the end of season run. There is an awful lot of money and ranking points to play for in October/November the way the season in Europe is not structured.

He is putting on a golf clinic in the club tomorrow (St Margaret's), looking forward to it.

I am just back from a function here in Tullamore where I had the pleasure of a meet and greet with Shane, I know its been said before, but he's such a sound down to earth bloke. Full of chat, mad into sport, family and friends. He's raring to go for the Dunhill so here's hoping he's at the top of the leaderboard after 4 days.

    He sure aint.
Big / heavy balls that fella.
I think his GAA background is proving invaluable to him to be honest.
Golf is about walking thru a door, even when its only half open.
The fact that many golfers are afraid to peep in that half-open door means that the likes of Lowry / Woods / Day etc (i.e. those with real conviction) are super successful.

Relax now. I mean im as big a fan of Shane as the next guy. But he in no way deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Woods or even to a lesser extent Day.
He is getting better every year but he still only has 3 wins in 6 years.

Dont think you;ve gone nearly far enough here.

Woods sure, but what about Nicklaus or Watson, Palmer or Player.

Or even taking it outside the sport entirely. He's up there with Schumacher and Senna, Pele and Messi, Bolt, Ali, etc..... it's that level of conviction that really typifies the achievements of Lowry to this point

    no i've been misunderstood.
sure his trophy cabinet (bank balance) is minuscule at the minute, but the way he competes and wins is up there with people like Senna, Jordan, Ali, Messi, Roy Keane, Ruby Walsh, Davy Fitzgerald, Usain Bolt, Serena Williams, David Campese, Tom Brady, etc etc

These athletes play to win, and win more often than not cause (a) they're talented, but (b) because they have that 'winning conviction'

the latter is hugely important in golf - as only a small % of competitors have it. Day, Spieth, Woods, Lowry. Huge proportion of players turn up for work on a thursday and arent hugely fussed whether they're teeing off on saturday or not
