PWTorch has learned that former WWE star Umaga (Eddie Fatu) was found dead today by his wife.

The original suspicion on cause of death is prescription pills, as Umaga was reportedly found bleeding from his nose and mouth.

We have also learned that WWE will be issuing a statement later today or this weekend.

Umaga was released from WWE in June after failing WWE's Wellness Policy for the second time. He was on the Hulkamania Tour in Australia that just concluded last weekend.
    I hope this isn't true.

    F4W with an update
Edward Fatu, 36, is hospitalized in Houston and in what was described as life threatening condition by a long-time friend.

Details are sketchy at this point but he apparently fell asleep last night while watching television, and several hours later, his wife found him not breathing with blood coming out of his nose and he was rushed to the hospital.

Jesus Christ! At least his condition has been updated from 'dead' to 'alive' :)

Hope he pulls through... I know WWE fired him because he refused to go to rehab :(:( :(

Well according to reports he's either seriously ill or dead, Neither are good obviously but if he is seriously ill i hope he makes a recovery

 It's seriously ill until confirmed otherwise! I won't entertain another dead wrestler until it's official (i.e. stated on all the main websites)

:eek: At least he's not dead but that's a major shock

Edward Fatu, 36, is hospitalized in Houston and in what was described as life threatening condition by a long-time friend. He was just removed from life support.

His family was told to come into town as quickly as possible. Family members have been told they believe he suffered a heart attack.

Details are sketchy at this point but he apparently fell asleep last night while watching television, and several hours later, his wife found him not breathing with blood coming out of his nose and he was rushed to the hospital.

Fatu, who lives in nearby Spring, TX, wrestled under a number of names including Ekmo, Jamal and most notably Umaga. He had just returned a few days ago from the Hulk Hogan tour of Australia.

He was released by WWE in June after failing a drug test and refusing the company's wishes to send him to rehab.

If he accepted rehab, this still might of happend.

From what I can make of it, it was a heart attack he had. I don't want to make any assumptions but Eddie's past caught up on him so maybe Umaga's has.

Some people just can't admit they have a problem thou. No matter how much help is given to them, they won't accept it and try to stick it out by themselves

No, I really can't believe I'm looking at these reports. I'm still clinging to a small bit of hope as nothing really offical has been said but it's seriously not good.

My previous post was my 666th post and it was about death. That's a horrible omen

from what i can see he hasn't "offically" died but is being taken off life support.. so its inevitable

I agree. I'm in denial until it comes up on WWE.com and more veritable sources (i.e. all the big news sites)

    But :(:(:( It's really horrible.

absolutely, even a small chance is still a chance

I'm 19, male and can't face the fact of death on someone so young (36).

Looking at Ken Anderson's tweets and him reminising on Eddie Fatu, just so sad.

    Here, I put them togrther
I'm very thankful to have had a private closed-door conversation with Ecki prior to our match a few days ago in Sydney. He insisted that we go out and tear the house down. We both had something to prove that night and in my opinion: Mission Accomplished! Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Fatu family. Ecki absolutely adored his wife and was extremely proud of his children. I have so many amazing, funny, and heartwarming (sometimes gut wrenching belly-laughing) memories.

I'm constantly refreshing all the major news sites for any info on this but no news on it

Found this on Wrestlecast's twitter, all I have to say is fair play to them
Still no confirmation on the rumors of Umaga's death. We promise not to post anything until it is absolutely confirmed.

The only negative thing i'll say is the fact that WWE tried to send him to rehab, and he refused does kinda taint this to me, because WWE obviously saw he'd be another Eddie or Pillman etc etc, and especially with his extremely large size, wouldn't exactly help any kind of heart situation.. but then again it could be hereditary since his cousin Yokazuna died quite young aswell

Updates on this, Sorry if it's all mixed up but Twitter's gone mad with this :

-Umaga is now a trending topic on Twitter - http://twitter.com/#search?q=Umaga

    - JR on this: http://www.jrsbarbq.com/blog/eddie-fatu-aka-umagas-condition-worsens
I was informed by someone who has spoken to a Fatu family member that Eddie has been removed from life support and his condition is obviously grave. Unfortunately, one can expect more bad news to be released imminently.
Just to clear things up that have been reported, Eddie Fatu at this point is still alive and in a hospital in Houston. The family is being gathered and without a miraculous recovery, it is just a matter of time. But he has not passed away.

    - Hurricane Helms just tweeted this
    Heartbroken. No words.

How did you cope with Eddie and Benoit's death? You must've started watching after June 30th, 2007.

I took Eddie's death ok, it didn't really hit me until a few months afterwards. Benoit's death -seeing the tribute RAW and Eddie/Benoit hugging at the end of WMXX-- was heartbreaking. Wrestling has really never the same since :(

Please keep us updated if veritable sources confirm Umaga's condition

That's a little offensive and no, I didn't start watching wrestling after 30/6/07.

I only found out about Eddie's death watching Raw on the Wednesday night replay, I didn't use the internet at all back then. I was in a state of shock all that week. Watching the Viva la Raza DVD still takes me back to that night. Then Benoit died in 07, remember watching it on Sky Sports News and Fox News. Read what happend on the internet and wouldn't believe it for a second. It took a bit of time but I got over it

Different people deal with death in different ways

I'll try to keep ye updated on this

Wow, left twitter alone for 5 mins, 460 twets about Umaga

Really sorry, I didn't mean it to be. It's something no-one should ever have to deal with. After Eddie and Benoit, and one of 'my boys' Test dying, I don't really feel it anymore :(:(

    Thanks for the news :(:(

Another wrestler dies far too young.

WWE (as the largest PW company in the world) really need to set an example and start giving everyone at least eight weeks straight paid leave a year to spend time with their families and give their bodies a rest so they don't become dependent on over the counter and prescription pain and sleeping pills.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,492 ✭✭✭EdK

WWE would like to express its deepest condolences to Mr. Fatu’s family, friends and fans on his tragic passing. Mr. Fatu was under contract with WWE at various time periods and most recently performed under the name "Umaga." Mr. Fatu's contract was terminated on June 11, 2009.

Very poor piece of writing imo, Whats his last contract got to do with anything besides them pointing out they off loaded him before he died, Obviously not blaming WWE but I dont know doesnt seem right, His life was "terminated" today

Yeah, it's very poorly written. Even if they left just the 1st line, it would've been better that what they wrote imo

    R.I.P Umaga

My favorite match of his and what many argue Cena's best match, their LMS match from The Rumble in 2007..

Good God, look at what he went through:

    Wrestling Observer:

Edward "Umaga"Fatu passed away around 6 p.m. Eastern time after suffering a second heart attack while in the hospital. He was 36.

We want to send our condolences to the entire family on their loss.

I don't care that I'm 19 and male, I'm really emotional right now:(:(:(:(

Truely Sad news. Have to agree there should be an off season much like football, basketball, etc or a mandatory 8 - 12 continuous weeks down time period for all wrestler under Contract with the WWE or whatever Organisation there are contracted to.

I always really enjoyed watching him perform especially with Jeff Hardy. RIP.

In regards to the WWE, I wouldn't expect anything less from them. In some ways I can understand it because they will want to quell any negative publicity before it starts. At the same time, it does come across lacking alot of class.

its WWE distancing themselves from him as much as possible, at the end of the day it kinda proves (also because of the outside contractor thing too) that Vince doesnt give two Fs about anyone who works/worked for him..
