xbox 360 modding, please simplify

I had an old xbox a good while ago and a friend got it "chipped" for me which meant it had 50 pre loaded xbox games on it and not only that but u could then rent or borrow other games and just copy them on within minutes to the HD and I had them for ever. Can the same be done with the xbox 360? I also dont mind if I cant…
