What changes would you make to your gym?

    Hi all,

As you can see I'm new to this site but was wondering what people thought of the gym/fitness centre they were members of.

I'm a regular gym goer (Carlisle, Kimmage) but because of the crowds have started to get a bit frustrated down there. I hate the waiting around for certain machines etc.

Which got me thinking.....if you were to change anything in your gym to make it better or more appealing what would that be??

    I'm in trinity gym now.

Instructors who actually instruct instead of talking amongst themselves and ignoring ppl lifting weights with really bad form.

more space in the weights area.

Consistent weights plates (there are 4 different kinda of plates for the same weight).

    Where do I start.

Less of the machines that few people use and more of the stuff that is in demand, like benches etc.

Ban members who just stand around with their posh southside rugby accents and who hog equipment but don't actually use it.

Ban members who insist on dropping weights onto the floor causing a loud thud.

Thats post is conveys a sense of ignorance.
Although I reckon my gym could use the first bit.

    For me,
Bring back the other pullup bar (which had a dip station)
    Maybe a second Power cage.
    Bumper plates.
    Another bar or two.

First of all a new stema room and sauna. What realy annoys me also I suppose is the usual, idots using the squat racks to barbell curl, gangs of steroid heads shouting and dropping weights, smelly dressing rooms, people fast walking on treadmills(go outside to do that). Fat people wearing spandex, compulsive sweaters not wiping equipment, instructors ignoring all the afformentioned whilst tryin to chat up newbie girls.

Im training years in gyms and these things never change, people are so weird and self absorbed in gyms. what realy realy annoys me are the tribes of 20's and 30's sex in the city wannabees (total fitness castleknock) who love themselves and swan into their step classes in herds of gaggling geese!!!

Yeah, I've noticed the sleazy gym instructors myself. I'm just waiting for them to introduce a new exercise for girls - a naked squat on their c***

So what? If that's how they talk there's nothing wrong with it. What if someone suggested to ban you for the way u talk, or for the way you think?!
And the majority of members hog equipment, you just have to ask them can you use it.

There should be more of what people need i.e. benches, not the machines that are left idle collecting dust. What can be irritating about my gym is when broken machines are left broken.

OP there's loads of discussion about what people do/ don't like in their gym here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054859327
