Crossfit Implosion

Crossfit HQ seems to be falling out with and firing all their coaches that actually know what they're talking about.

Apparently Rippetoe has parted ways with them as well ?

    It's all strangely entertaining

Meh. Very long read. Looks like one guy is cranky and fell out with another.

There's a good write up about it on the Catalyst Athletics page too.

Castro comes off as being a total prick in em tbh.

    I saw this too.

Read both Robb Wolf and Catalyst as well as the official Crossfit line.
    Good old scandal.
    Like watching Corrie.

I should say that I don't think Crossfit is Imploding.
Both Coaches have prior trouble with Glassman/Crossfit Inc.

Does anybody know the why behind Rip walking away?

I think Rippetoe advised Crossfit of the benefits of making their members stronger instead of just repeatedly doing cardio circuits.

Glassman apparently disagreed because if they got too strong then they wouldn't be "balanced".

    For "balanced" read "average".

Yup, and that's why they got Louie Simmons on board for the CF powerlifting certifications now!! :D

Robb Wolf leaving was on the cards. There's been some heated discussions on the crossfit journal with Robb vs HQ before. I think the thing with Rip was wanting more quality control over his barbell cert. People attending and getting certified without being examined and stuff like that. Robb Wolf was arguing against this as well. Calling them certs when all they are is seminars etc. I think they've got Barry Sears in to do the nutrition certs now which was pretty quick. Which is why HQ weren't likening the zone bashing I guess.

Google crossfit greyskull aswell for a good entertaining read. I only came across it through reading the Robb Wolf stuff.

Also, barry's trained way more people than Robb and has much greater renown as a s&c coach. Rumour has it that his stable of elite olympians rivals that of tony budding's

This isn't really an implosion. What we're seeing is the shaking off of everything that's holding back Crossfit from taking over the world as the routine of choice for white american kids (unless you're a hispanic girl, they seem to like them) who want to deadlift a maximum of 140kg but master the art of loading the bar with a minimum of 5 plates per side.

    OMG that sounds AWESOME.

It looks to me like the cult is purging itself of anybody that is actually respected in the real world.

You know I thought the same thing when I first read it on Robb Wolff's SSite.
Some of the comments against Wollff were really ascerbic.

Something very "dear leader" about Couch.
    I can't stand him.
