Milllionaire. I can always buy a business and do the job I'd love that way. Even if I blow all my money on ferrari's and hookers I can go on the dole:p

    A million a year.

I'd drift between some friends in Israel and Lebanon when competitions are over, then I'd spend some time in the Kodokan (home of Judo) training.

The rest of the time I'd spend financing my travels to various Judo competitions around the glode.

When I'm not doing this I'd drink.

52k is just a decent wage? What's a good wage so?

    I feel poor :(

You did it the wrong way around. It doesn't really work if your job pays less than the no job option. You'd be a chump to stick at it.

    It should have been -

Would you either work a 9-5 job and earn 100,000 a year, or never work again and get a hand out of 40,000 a year.

I'd take the million and concentrate on studying/work I'd enjoy (some sort of genetics related research)

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

You earn way more money by working. Even after 20 years, you'll have earned more money (interest ignored).

Would take the million and give myself a decent wage of say €52k for doing nothing.

I chose work and heres the reasons why:

No matter what ya come up with sooner rather than later you will get bored of things to do you can party away travel the world do all the things you ever wanted to do buy as many companys as ya like and build it up.

Take me i'm 23, i have a job and theres always that chase to make it. But if i had more than i ever needed i life would be boring, i'd have money i would never spend, so the motivation would'nt be there.

    Random Sunday nite thoughts!

in the words of Spike Milligan: all i ask is for enough money to prove that money doesn't make you happy!

i'd love to be rich! i'd study things in college i'm actually interested in rather than things i recon i can make money off!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,134 ✭✭✭FarmerGreen

It would be great to go to work, one last time, hand out an an envelope of cash to all those that helped me.
And with a clear conscience I could hairyarse around in a Hughes 500.
    Freedom.

I f*ckin hate my job. Even if I just got one payout of €52,000, I'd quit my job right now. It's more than 3 times my annual wage so happy days! I also play in a band and that feels like work a lot of the time so I'd be kept busy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,583 ✭✭✭✭kowloon

    The million.
The people who say you would get bored are seeing the free time as something that will only be filled with tv and drinking.

Unless you're one of the lucky few who enjoy, I mean really enjoy, their job, it just gets in the way of doing the things you want to do.

I'd spend longer in education, I'd love to learn to cook and I'd like to do some work on a project I couldn't do thanks to all the time eaten up by work and now my lack of money.

You could work with charities if you had the time off and the money to support it.

Do I even need to go on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,964 ✭✭✭Podge2k7

I'd take the money every time tbh.

I'd take the money every time. Anyone who thinks it would be boring after a while lacks a hell of a lot of imagination.
I'd learn to sail, to fly a plane, to fly a helicopter, take up rally driving, all these things would fill up many years i imagine and would well fulfill the hunger for challenge.
Travel to places i always wanted and spend enough time there to truely appreciate them. Take lotsa pictures. Maybe even some vids.
I'd bet on black. Cos my good friend Wesley told me to.
    Build a race track.
Open a pub. Cheap drink and good music.
    Form a Band.
Modest house in the country 4 bed on an acre, gym, Swimming pool, music studio, photgraphy studio, art studio.
Large shed for the long list of Cars i have already formed, all the tools i want obviously.
    Have a party.
    Fund a small independant film.
Buy a steam roller just to squish things with.
    Sky dive.
    Deep sea dive.
    Muff dive.
    Feel alive.
Jesus how can the answer ever not be the million a year?!!!

So you would be happy being a slave?

With a million a year, I'd create a full time job for myself that costs less than a million in wages.

What I would do would benefit others who are less able as well!

Beauty of it being is if I didn't want to work a particular day then I sinply wouildn't and if i fealt like doing an extra day somewhere then I could as I would be my own boss!

The most important thing is doing something worthwhile and not being a wage slave (like most of us are right now :()

Yes, use the money to learn/improve on youyr skills and then start a new business (hobby as your life doesn't depend on it) benifitting those you employ. You could really do some good for your local area.

Rather than just pissing it against awall or going on world cruises.

Take the money, buy a lovely house in the country, build a range complex discretely, train daily, six or seven hundred rounds a day, travel the world, do the full world cup circuit every year (so in a typical year, USA, Munich, Milan, somewhere in south-east Asia, the final somewhere else) the European championships and a host of other events in Europe and the UK, as well as travelling at least twice a year to test ammunition at three factories in Europe. I'd also have a driven and walked up shoot around my house which I'd let days on every year to paying customers, then offer free days to friends and family, and I'd provide the best sport possible. I'd also hunt in Europe a couple of times a year, and Scotland, and probably Africa. I'd buy nice clothes and dress well all the time, for no other reason than that I can. I'd keep a high-ceilinged library well stocked, with an extremely comfortable chair next to a window, with an open fireplace comfortably close. I'd live on wild game and locally grown produce. I'd keep a superbly stocked drinks cabinet and entertain regularly. I'd buy some beautiful cars and drive in the countryside. Anything left over, I'd put to some good use, but there wouldn't be much.

I'm doing Computer Applications now. Meaning my job would (assuming I don't fail miserably in the next four years) involve probably programming (and maybe some other related stuff).
If I get bored with no job I just have to download a decent text editor and compiler and get involved with some free software projects, it's like having a programming job but with no deadlines and if I get bored I can just abandon it. (but seriously, why would I ever resort to that when I have a million a year?)

Best answer ever. I'd do all that and more. Helicopter being top of the list. Jeez, you must have no imagination if you think you'd be bored.
I hate my job, all it does is get in the way of stuff I want to do.

Can I have both? I like working but I like money too.

If I had my job but didn't need to do for the money and could go/buy/do what I want while working, that'd suit me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,059 ✭✭✭Buceph

If you gave me the option of job money or millionaire money you'd probably save money on giving me the million. I'd be dead after a year anyway. One way trip to Vegas plox!
