One of my favourite foods is crisp sandwiches.

If you don't like them - check your pulse!

Thick slices of bread, Connaught Gold butter, cheese and onion crisps, glass of coke with ice = win.

Actually crisp sandwiches can cheer me up when I'm in a bad mood! Walkers work better than Tayto, in my opinion

Don't feel that you must confine yourself to cheese & onion either. All crisps are good for making crisp sandwiches. In fact I brought buttered bread to work last week so that I could just get crisps from the vending machine to make crisp sandwiches for lunch. Stupid vending machine was out of order. Butter sandwiches suck @ss...

Nyom nyom, kerrygold for me though :)
Crisp order of choice: King, Walkers, Tayto. All good though!

Ok i have no problem with any negative comments to this post provide you try it before you comment, otherwise opinions to yourselves please.

Step 1- Lightly butter two thick slices of bread
Step 2- Add a nice layer of strawberry jam to one of the slices
Step 3- Add tayto cheese and onion (or preferred flavour)
    Step 4- Eat

Goes very well with warm milk!

Well if you feel that strongly about it....

    Noooooo. you don't make sandwiches.
What you do is take one crisp and then bite into a slice of buttered bread of your choice. Repeat until you are full or the crisps are gone.
This way you get the full taste of both with every bite.

Christ. I wish I had some fresh bread and crisps here right now.

Ive never tried it with jam!

Crushing the crisps is important too. I grind and crunch them into a fine dust!!

+ 1 on the chipstick sambos.

Oh I do love a good crisp sambo. Any flavour except smoky bacon - yum. Or a corned beef, or ham, or cheese sambo with added crisps. MMM.

I wouldn't be having a glass of coke with it though. Nope. A nice cold glass of milk is the best!

    Best thread ever!

I'm eating a Cheese and Onion Hunky Dory Sandwich right now with a big glass of Coke with ice :D

I love a crisp sandwich but have to keep the crisps seperate and eat one with every bite, is that wrong?:D Don't want it in the sandwich for some reason!

Only yesterday had I one of these beauties and my good God was it orgasmic. Fresh O'Hara's Mr. Toasty, packet of Tayto Cheese and Onion, a little Connacht Gold, crushed down and sliced diagonally. Repeat as necessary.

Question: Were Perri Cheese and Onion nice on Tayto Sandwiches? (I'm from the west, all crisps are tayto...)

+1 on the the Hunky Dorys, yum, yum, I'm having some now.

However, it HAS to be a nice cup of tea with the sambo, coke just doesn't do it for me.

I've never buttered the bread in my crisp sandwiches. The idea never occurred, is it really that much better with butter?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,395 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

You have to have the butter! if your going with cheese and onion throw on a few slices of cheddar cheese too! nice!

I'm not so sure people, they'd probably use margarine instead of butter and the crisps would go all soggy, they must be eaten within minutes of preparation!

King crisps, fresh Brennans bread and thick butter.

Your post inspired me to buy King crisps (which I have never tried before) in the shop today!

It was possibly the best decision I made all day!! King crisps make the nicest crisp sandwiches in the world! If I could thank you twice, I would!

Course you can get Perri crisps in the west, what about the red bag Cheddar Cheese and Spring Onion......although I do think that Tayto C+O are best for a sandwich.

big thick soft bread, very buttery butter and a pack of walkers ready salted

    *DROOOOLL*

and im eating them right now :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,345 ✭✭✭Somnus

As much as I usually prefer Walkers or Hunky Dorey, I always love Tayto on a crisp sambo.

And they are the best snack ever. I'll definitely be having one later on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 337 ✭✭Elevelyn

Gotta be walkers c+o and really fresh brennans bread for me, one lightly buttered slice, crush the crisps fold over and repeat. YUM

My boyfriend likes them with ham.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 260 ✭✭LaLucy

Oh yum!! Starving to bits now you gits! Ok all suggestions are excellent! But... The king of all crisp sandwiches is as follows.. Brennans white thick bread, unbuttered..too dry? Aha.. Take minced egg and onion mayo, which you buy ready made in shop, and spread a lot of it onto one slice, then take the purple cheese and onion walkers big bag which i get in tesco and put a lot on top of the mayo, take the other slice of bread and place on top and press lightly down until some mayo oozes out. Cut and eat with a steaming cuppa tea:) i've just made myself ultra hungry with my delicious description!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭rainbowtrout

I'm half tempted to go to the 24 hour (10 miles away) now to get bread and crisps (have neither in the house right now) so great is the need for a ham and cheese and onion tayto sandwich. I think that's lunch decided tomorrow. :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,239 ✭✭✭✭WindSock

King or Tayto for me please on the freshest sliced pan with some real butter and a pinch of salt. I love the pressing down on the sandwich slightly and feeling the crisps crush under the soft bread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,062 ✭✭✭all the stars

    hmmmmmmmmmmm

Favourite snack in the world goes a bit like :

Toasted cheese sambo - open her up and stick in crisps...

    oh god im soooooo hungry.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 644 ✭✭✭Mackleton

No, ya see I don't squish the crisps at all, I leave them as is, in the sandwich then you get a super satisfying crunch when you bite into it. Bugger. I wants one now :(
