    Hi guys.
I was trying to fix the PS2(phat) power ribbon cable. When I had everything fixed and it was working I decided to put the screws back in.
I was screwing in the screw nearest the RESET/EJECT buttons when a heard a crunching sound.
I tried the PS2 and it wasn't turning on. I opened it back up again and found that I had pierced a hole in the ribbon cable:( I hope I have now learned my lesson and the next time I will make sure that everything is out of the way.

I'm wondering if anybody knows where to get a replacement ribbon cable or if anyone was throwing out an old PS2 and had the ribbon if I could take it off them.(I probably could get my dad to pick it up);)

    Thanks.

Nice job :D Pretty sure it's the same ribbon cable for PS2 slim and PS2 original.

    They are available: http://cgi.ebay.ie/Playstation-2-Slim-Front-Power-Reset-Ribbon-Cable-70-77_W0QQitemZ320405576917QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_VideoGames_VideoGameAccessories_VideoGameAccessories_JN?hash=item4a99a91cd5

    Nope, not the same.

    However, VPgames have it for $5 + $3 delivery, so around €5.50/€6.00 - https://vpgames.com/p-3648-sony-ps2-replacement-eject-ribbon-7-pin-power-switch-repair-cable-for-playstation-2.aspx

Just like the regular figure 8 power lead?

    Figure%25208%2520Power%2520Lead.jpg

You should be able to pick them up in any electronic store as they are used for all sorts of things (Hi-Fi etc)

The "Phat" PS2 has the power supply on the inside, so all you need is a two-pin power (Figure 8), just like the picture posted above.

The Slim PS2 moved the power supply to a block on the outside so they could reduce the size. Do you have a slim PS2 and need a new power supply block?
