from memory it would be size 6 or 5, a set of allen keys is usually only around 4.99 though for sizes 1.5 through to 9 or 10

Buy a set of separate long allen keys. Those short ones held together by springs are a pain in the brown eye

The allen key sets only go up to a 10. The irish-lifting.com one I've got is a 12 or 13 or something. I don't have a key to tighten it up so I'm forever trying to hand tighten both sides

I actually bought some allan keys today from a 2 euro shop in Dublin. They have 2 sets with I think 8 or maybe even 10 different sizes on each one. Maybe worth trying out?

Question,is an olympic barbell meant to be locked tight?as in no swivel of the centre part compared to the end shafts? The one in my gym can free wheel it like there is roller bearings on each side ha.

Its suppsoed to swivel. It's to prevent inhertia of the plates when lifting with a rotation motion. It is didn't rotate I'd be worried about your gym's equipment. Tightening the allen key shouldn't stop this (as its tightening to a bearing mech not the bar directly afaik).

An old bar I had was like this , I bought an Allen key to fit it in Mcquillans in Capel st , Its also worth applying some loctite when you do it so it stays tight for longer.
