Can anybody recommend a handy protein snack that you can easily get in a standard supermarket and which involves little preparation (e.g. can have in work without access to a kitchen) - can't stomach any more tuna or cottage cheese!

    Thanks,

    R

Eggs. Boil them in the morning as soon as you get up. Dump them in the saucepan in cold water with the hob on. Come back 15 minutes later after your shower and they will be boiled. Adds maximum of 1 minute to your morning routine.

Tins of tuna. Bring them to work with you in a tupperware container. All you need to do is open the tin the night before, dump it in the container, put in fridge and remember to take with you in the morning. Remember to bring a spoon too. (edit - ok you don't like tuna... how about sardines?)

Nuts. Buy loads of 350g bags of mixed/almond/cashew/brazil nuts. One bag will last you a few days. Leave a bag in your desk/bag/jacket/behind monitor/within reach.

Cottage Cheese, you can max it a little more interesting by putting some seeds or dried fruit into it but pound for pound it's a hell of a lot better than most other options.

Also chocolate milk is the perfect post workout snack, it's got the optimal blend of protein, cabs and fat

I got a huge turkey breast in lidl and roasted it and cut it up so I have convenient protein snacks I can just grab out of the fridge and put into my bag.

That 15 minutes includes the time it takes me to get out of bed to reach the kitchen and get back fully washed/clothed/porridge eaten and ready for the road.

The point is --> boiling eggs to bring to work is a quick and easy task which can be carried out in parallel with your other morning activities.

nuts are a bit high in fat for me! chicken breasts are good just boil them and put them in the fridge, they last about 2 days, i'd usually eat two a day!...when i get sick of chicken i just buy some avonmore choc milk, theyre like 90 c for a 330ml carton i think?....don't rush into consuming alot of protein though. I did this and became constipated and broke out in spots!..you've been warned:eek:

Blend two bananas, about a pint of milk, a scoop of whey and about 100g of peanut butter until smooth. I find it keeps for at least a day and a bit, transfer into a bottle and bring it to work.

spots? how does this happen? have been noticing spots on my upper legs the past month or two. are the spots connected to all the protein shakes i've been consuming? along with lots of meat, milk and eggs?

hmm not sure to be honest! my spots went after about a week or 2 so it might not be! a rapid change in diet can bring on spots or hives but usually your body gets used to the new lifestyle and adjusts

Eat it out of the tin, or am i missing something.

My lunch at work is a 100g tin of tuna and either 2 eggs or a tin of tomato soup (soup if I had eggs for BF)

But seriously, the best protein snack is jerky. Natural beef (no sugars added, peppers are ok) jerky has a huge % of protein.

Well I cut them into portion sizes and then freeze them in clingfilm as they're quite small they defrost easily enough so they keep months in the freezer.

Is that safe? i would do this since it would be way more convenient but can you freeze chicken once cooked?

Of course you can, for example, all the microwave dinners have chicken in them. Plenty of the frozen foods contain cooked chicken

If you cook fresh chicken, then there is no problem freezing it. However if you have chicken fillets in the freezer already. Then I would not reccommend thawing, cooking and refreezing these.

Stuck this in the blender there yesterday evening. Was good, but went back to the blender a couple of hours later and it looked disgusting. Had all frothed up and looked curdled so threw the rest out.
