    Hi all!!

Doing really well on my diet but have a severe craving for some creamy garlic potatoes! Have no idea how to make them and any receipe I find has alot of saturated fat.

Any1 have a low fat recipe? Is it possible!!? Help I need a fix!

You could try roasting some potatoes in some olive oil and garlic - won't give you creamy spuds but the taste will be there. If you want creamy spuds you'll have to use lots of saturated fat I'm afraid.

Parboil the spuds and then pop them in a roasting tray with some finely chopped garlic, sage and some olive oil. Bam them into the oven for 30mins, or until golden brown.

    Scrummy, yet not creamy.

Thank u both for replies but i love the cream!

As i type i have a "creation" in the oven, thinly sliced potatoes, milk, natural youghurt, garlic and rosemary, salt, pepper, cheese.

Just opened the oven to check and its kinda gone all lumpy at the top and it's quite runny!

Smells savage tho, but think its ready for the bin!

    Hmm, how about using margarine?

I just tasted it, tis very nice!!

After turnin to mush and dish is kinda burnt round edges, but it tastes lovely! Can always throw dish out to save on washin up lol

If I cook potatoes with rock salt/rosemary/garlic in the oven, my sister mashes hers with natural yoghurt after they've been cooked. Apparently not the same, but has the creamy taste, and you'd never tell by the way she scoffs them all :)

Potato with lowfat garlic and herb philadelphia or own brand alternative :):)

I do both the last 2 receipes but also shave some chive or spring onion in for extra flavour. Use yogurt too for creamy chicken dishes. Spoon of sugar takes the tang away.

Was also going to suggest using low fat philly!!! Maybe you could mix it with some lowfat milk to make a sauce...?

To be honest, I'd say the "creation" you used is quite fatty

200ml Super milk, 3 tlb spoons of natural youghurt and 2 slices of light easy singles and 1 potato.

Would it really be that bad?

I'm not being smart but why not just have them, use them as a once off treat and do some extra exercise to burn off a few extra calories?

Might be a better alternative then obsessing about them?

Use fat free fromage frais to make a garlicy-sauce and mix it up with them at the end?

I don't know if easy singles is even classed as cheese.

If you use better quality, better tasting ingredients you won't need to use as much of them. This whole "low-fat" food fad is often just a manufacturers way of presenting over-processed, low-quality food as a "nutritious" or "healthy" option because they stamp "low-fat" or "95% fat free" on it.
