Nah, they had to stop showing that when everyone realised what a knob Alan Hughes was.

Nah, it's the Guinness one that gets me...I get a little lump in my throat that only a pint of porter can get rid of

Come on guys. Know your Ad Rules.
1)Coca Cola ad signals start of Christmas Season
2)Guinness Ad signals actual Christmas day.

I love turning onto RTE 1 or 2 (Not sure if TV3 do it) on Christmas Eve at midnight on the dot and the Guinness ad is on :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Schism

I love the polar bear ones myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,005 ✭✭✭Ann22

Ah I love that ad!! Holidays are comin'!'....I get tingles when I see it! The first showing of it in particular. The Budweiser one is pure magic too.. it's just purely beautiful, like a Christmas card come to life:o.

Remember the one with the wee fella at the window with his wee pj bottoms hanging down, was it Pennys or the Post Office?

My sentiments exactly! I got the tingly feeling and couldn't help myself from smiling. One of those smiling away to yourself moments. Awww...

I despise everything, but there is a particularly dark and frightening corner in my mind for Christmas advertisements, like this tedious offering by Coca-Cola, which are rehashed each year, and are acclaimed as some sort of institution apparently just for remaining on our screens each year. Off with your heads, those of you who enjoy them!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,836 ✭✭✭TanG411

I prefer the old Coke ad myself.

Old man: ''Then the trucks came over the hill''
Chant: ''Holidays are comin' , holidays are comin'''.

The polar bear one is good too.

If it was a cartoon then I think that was Pennys. "Pennys a whole lotta things for Christmas and a lot for the family" was the jingle. :o

That ad makes me well up every time.

That poor lad - growing up in the wilds.

    ;)

    bring on the

"penneys. got a whole lotta things for Christmas, gotta lot for the famileeeee... tra lalalalala la la la, la lala la lala ...."

    or for britland

    "primark, got a whole lotta..."

the esb ad brought back some memories. those shyte trains that they had on the dublin sligo line for way too feckin long and the doors that opened from the outside only.

I'm the type of person who hates to see anything Christmas related until the 1st of December. Don't get me wrong or anything I love Christmas. Gotta love the Coca-Cola ad, it's one of the best. Another I love is the Budweiser ad, quick search on youtube will find it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,264 ✭✭✭Pretty_Pistol

Love the Coca Cola truck ad and Cornflake ad for the nostalgia.

The Guinness ad is so pretty. Really love that ad.

The Coke Polar Bear ads come on after Christmas for the New Year.

There should be a poll for the best christmas ad ever (I'm too lazy). I reckon the An Post ad would win.

Couldn't find the actual ad, but same thing..

Oh gosh....you have exposed the one chink in the armour of my cynicism! Beautifully rendered winter scenery and haunting, almost austere vocals, the very spirit of my childhood dwells within.

Aww I love that one too! :)

I bought my Christmas tree last week :D Tis waiting safely all boxed up in the spare bedroom. And on Saturday I'm going down to my mum's so we can make the Christmas cake and watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation :)

    *contented sigh* :)

Beat me to it. The Penneys one is my favourite of those stock Christmas ads and it's not shown as much in recent years... :(
Barrys Tea would want to be petrol-bombed for that train radio ad.
Love the ESB one - but wasn't it more just a winter ad than a specifically Christmas one?
The Guinness one is lovely. :o

Christmas time, shitty threads and swine,
    Children bringing welfare and crime,
With puppies on fire, and crap on RTE,
A time to begrudge all that we see

Ha! I saw it between the break of Neighbours over on RTÉ 2 :p

I too, absolutely love the christmas ads, especially the coke ad and the corn flakes one. The coke ad is my favourite, but on Christmas Eve, there's nothing like a bit of the Guiness ad as you're sitting beside the fire!

I'm kind of missing the old vodafone ad that they had on for the last two years. Watching people skating down Grafton Street to soft music, seemed very Christmassy (if that's even a word!).

On another note, I'm very dissappointed with the 02 ad this year, it isn't really that festive.

    Seriously love the Guinness ad.

My sister has a couple of those Coca-Cola trucks lurking around the place. Me thinks they were some sort of promotional offer. Ah, the season is (nigh) among us, friends!:)

I won one on a supermacs scratchcard last year. I think it's still down in the wardrobe somewhere with all the rest of the decorations. I don't think you can actually buy them unless you look on ebay (unlikely).

They were giving them away with bottles of Coke last year in shops and newsagents not supermarkets. Think it was with twin packs, I'm not sure.
