I was always very small, but now i need to regain some weight. I was in the gym for a while about 2 years ago trying to put on muscle, but it didnt work out too well. Anyway, I have been stressed alot and have lost about 10kg, from 70kg. As you can see I am not very big.

I eat anything I want, when I want, but never put on weight, im skinny and hate it. i dont eat any vegetables by the way.

Can anyone recommend something I can do to put on weight. I'd like to aim for 80kg at least.

Would some protein shakes between meals do me any favours?

    Please help, thanks.

    Hi there,

I worked with a guy who was in the same situation as you, his problem was absorption - even when he tried eating larger quantities he didn't manage to gain weight. he started soya protein supplements as well as multivitamin and Vitamin B supplements (physical and mental stress use up B vitamins often resulting in fatigue and poor concentration) as well as regularly working out in the gym and gained 10kg of muscle. he has maintained that weight for the last 2 years. I can try and find out exactly what he was doing and which supplements he was taking if that would be helpful?

Could ya list what ya would eat in a typical day.

Things like full fat milk are great for weight gain. 1 litre has 600+ calories. Nuts are calorific too. Again 100gms has about 5-700cals and you could easily eat 100gms of nuts and 1-2ltrs of milk.

Might be useful to look at the Fitness forum as a lot of it is about weight lifting and increasing muscle mass.

There's also a sticky on supplements. However, supplements are just that; supplements. They shouldn't ever replace whole foods in your diet.

Work out how many calories you need on an average non-workout day. Aim to eat more than 500 calories of that figure on a non-workout day, more on a workout day. Perhaps a good whey protein share with carbs would be good also. Or a couple of litres of milk a day.

I gulped 5 pints of milk yesterday, and i felt so full, yet i had some food too. SHould i stick to milk for the future, see what happens and then advance on to other stuff?

I can stick to milk no probs, but what are the effects that my body will have. This is coming from someone with little to no nutritian in there diet, never mind milk.

Hey, I'm having the same problem and am wondering if I have some sort of worm

I've been lifting weights for about a year now (on and off)

For the last 2 months I've been taking weights quite seriously, seeing some gains in terms of what I can lift, and I'm making sure to eat plenty (I generally do anywya) - but guess what? I weight EXACTLY THE SAME

I've always been able to eat loads and not gain weight

This is what I ate today - and it's a typical day. Check out my fitness log in the fitness forum to see other days. I really want to bulk up, but just can't seem to put on any mass

8am - cup of oats and water, small tin of tuna, cottage cheese on toast, 2 grilled rashers, green tea

    12.30pm - 1 large tin tuna (185g) on bread (2 brown slices), 1 carrot

4pm - mackerel sandwich with cottage cheese, green tea

8pm (post workout) - 2 and a half chicken fillets grilled, mandarin, grapes

10pm - 2 white bread ham sandwiches (4 slices of ham altogether), glass of FF milk.

I'm 6ft, very little body fat, and I weight 11St 10lbs - I really should weigh more with the above diet right? with or without the weightlifting

hey, i drink green tea cause I like the taste. I prefer regular tea but just try to keep caffeine to a minimum
