Right, this is probably a really stupid question, but it's really annoying me. When it comes to measuring hips, the literature says to measure it around the widest point. However, the pictures indicate a point down around the top of your thighs almost. For me, the widest part is a few inches above that. This picture demonstrates:

The blue lines indicate where you're supposed to measure, while the red line is where I'm widest. Which part should I actually measure?

it does not matter unless its for clothes, for accuaracy measure the largest part, then you know its up or down for sure rather than are you measuring the right area.

different fat shapes will dictate exactly where so measure everyone as an individual if you want to be accurate

Measure the widest part, and the skinniest part for your tummy :)

well im biggest at the bottom which is the blue line but if you are bigger at hip measure there, is it for working out your hip to waist ratio? i know a great site for it, measures BMI etc http://www.indiacurry.com/women/beautyratio.htm
